The posts are spread over 13 trades, from Fitter and Electrician to Welder and COPA. The pay is Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200), with approximate monthly emoluments of ₹37,260 at Mysuru.

CFTRI is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The vacancies are provisional and may decrease at the time of selection. Of the 28 posts, two are reserved for Ex-Servicemen and two for PwBD candidates.

ESM and PwBD seats are horizontal reservations inside these totals. The PwBD seats are in TE02 (category c, locomotor disability) and TE05 (category b, deaf and hard of hearing). Suitable disability categories differ by trade, and PwBD age relaxation applies only where your category is listed.
What Is the Eligibility for CSIR CFTRI Technician 2026: Qualification and Age Limit?
Educational Qualification
Every trade needs SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks. On top of that, you need any one of the three routes below, in the same trade as the post code.

Age Limit
The age limit is 18 to 28 years as on 18 November 2026. Relaxation is as below.

SC, ST and OBC candidates applying against Unreserved posts get no age relaxation. A government servant who is SC/ST gets at most 10 years in total, and an OBC (NCL) servant at most 8 years, on reserved posts.
What Is the Salary for CSIR CFTRI Technician 2026?
The post carries Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200). Basic pay at the minimum of the scale is ₹19,900.
Approximate emoluments are ₹37,260 per month at the minimum of the scale, including House Rent Allowance as admissible in Mysuru.
You also get DA and Transport Allowance as admissible to central government employees, plus medical reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession and Children’s Education Allowance. HRA is not paid if you use council or government accommodation. The National Pension System applies, and CSIR runs an Assessment Promotion scheme for Technical Support Staff.

The exam is 150 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes at SSC plus ITI / XIIth standard. Paper-I is qualifying, and Paper-II and III are checked only if you cross the minimum mark in Paper-I. Paper-III is based on your trade. Ties are broken by higher trade-paper marks, then lesser negative marks, then older age, then earlier acquisition of the essential qualification, then alphabetical order. The fee is non-refundable and is paid through SBI Collect under “Application Fees-Regular Appointment”. It cannot be held for another recruitment. Applications without the fee from a non-exempt candidate are summarily rejected. SC and ST candidates applying on Unreserved posts still get the fee exemption.
