CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar Apprentice 2026: Walk-In Interview Date, Stipend and Eligibility

Good news for engineering, diploma and ITI students who want real training inside a national research laboratory. CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar has released Advertisement No. 03/2026 for apprentice engagement, and 41 apprentice seats are on offer across Engineering Graduate, Non-Engineering Graduate, Diploma Engineering and ITI trades. The monthly stipend goes up to ₹12,300, the training period is one year, and there is no written exam. Everything is decided in one walk-in-interview, so check the five-year recency bar and your NATS/NAPS registration before you travel.

The notification prescribes no online application form for CSIR-IMMT itself — the form is the printed Annexure-I — but online registration on the NATS 2.0 / NAPS portal is still required. You must be registered on the NATS 2.0 / NAPS portal, send a confirmation e-mail by 11 A.M. on 17th August 2026, and then reach the institute on 18th August 2026 with the duly filled Annexure-I form and your documents. Registration on the NATS 2.0 or NAPS portal is compulsory before that. Below we explain the seats, stipend, eligibility and full walk-in timing in simple language. Read it fully, and keep GovtJobsAlert.in handy for every new central government job notification.

Key Highlights — CSIR IMMT Apprentice Recruitment 2026

CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar is a laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) working on minerals, metals and advanced materials. It takes in apprentices so that fresh graduates, diploma holders and ITI pass-outs can learn on real laboratory equipment. Remember, this is purely a one-year training engagement under the Apprenticeship Act, 2025 as cited in the notification, with no claim to a regular job. For an engineering graduate looking for government jobs, it is a direct one-day route with no written examination.

CSIR IMMT Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026: Who Can Attend the Walk-In?

Read this part slowly — the institute is strict about how recently you passed.

Educational Qualification

  • Engineering Graduate Apprentice: A regular full-time degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant area from a recognised or approved university or institution, completed within the last five years.
  • Diploma Engineering Apprentice: A regular full-time three-year Diploma in Engineering or Technology in the relevant area, granted by a recognised or approved university or institution in the relevant discipline, completed within the last five years. If you are one of the many diploma holders searching for a government start, these 13 seats are worth attending.
  • Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentice (Office Assistant): Graduation (BA, B.Sc., B.Com. or BCA) from any Government recognised board or university, completed within the last five years.
  • ITI Apprentice: A pass ITI qualification in the relevant trade from any Government recognised board or university. All the ITI trade jobs listed here follow the same certificate rule.
Add three bullets: a valid e-mail ID is mandatory because all communication including the engagement letter is by e-mail only; candidature stays provisional until certificates are verified; and the institute may leave seats unfilled if candidates are unsuitable or too few.
  • No work experience is required — in fact, candidates with one year or more of work experience are not eligible.
  • You must not have undergone apprenticeship training anywhere else earlier.
  • You must not have completed five years after passing your qualifying examination.
  • Registration on the NATS 2.0 portal (Diploma, Engineering Graduate and Non-Engineering Graduate) or the NAPS portal (ITI) is required — the notification “advises” NATS registration for Diploma and Graduate candidates and “requires” NAPS registration for ITI candidates, and states that only candidates registered on NATS/NAPS will be considered for the walk-in-interview — and must be done within five years of passing.
  • The notification does not fix any minimum or maximum age. Your passing year, not your birth year, is what decides.

CSIR IMMT Apprentice Stipend 2026: What Salary Will You Get Every Month?

The stipend depends on your qualification level and, inside the ITI block, on your trade. These are the exact monthly figures printed in the advertisement.

  • Engineering Graduate (BE / B.Tech.): ₹12,300 per month
  • Non-Engineering Graduate (BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BCA): ₹12,300 per month
  • Diploma Engineering (all seven branches): ₹10,900 per month
  • ITI — Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, Mechanic of Refrigeration & AC, Electronics Mechanic and Turner: ₹10,560 per month
  • ITI — PASAA/COPA and Welder: ₹9,600 per month

For the two asterisked rates only (₹12,300 and ₹10,900), the notification says 50% of the amount is paid by the establishment every month and the remaining 50% by the Government. The ₹10,560 and ₹9,600 ITI rates carry no such asterisk in the advertisement. The notification adds, in its own words, that “50% of Government share i.e. Rs. 4500/- for Graduate and Rs. 4000/- for Diploma Candidates will be paid at old rate as per BOPT Letter No. BOPT/DT/2025-26/ dated 15.09.2025”.

Apart from the stipend, the real gain is one full year of training in a CSIR laboratory, which gives you a year of documented laboratory experience. One practical point: selected candidates must arrange their own stay; hostel accommodation is only subject to availability.

What is the Selection Process for CSIR IMMT Apprentice 2026?

The notification prescribes only one basis of selection — your performance in the walk-in-interview. Everything depends on your performance in the interview.

Before You Go: Portal Registration (Prerequisite, Not the Application)

— and re-label the other three H4s as “Before You Go: Confirmation E-mail”, “On the Day: Reporting and Document Verification” and “On the Day: Walk-In-Interview (the only selection step)”.

Understand this clearly — registering on the NATS 2.0 or NAPS portal is only a prerequisite, not your application to CSIR-IMMT. Without it you cannot be engaged, but registering alone will not get you an interview.

Confirmation E-mail

Your participation e-mail to recruitment.immt@csir.res.in, sent by 11 A.M. on 17th August 2026, is a requirement, not a courtesy — the notification says candidates willing to attend “are required to send a confirmation e-mail” by that deadline.

Reporting and Document Verification

Reporting, registration and document verification run from 9:30 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. on 18th August 2026 at S.S. Bhatnagar Hall, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar. No candidate is allowed after the reporting time, so reach early.

Walk-In-Interview

The interview begins at 10:30 A.M. on 18th August 2026 in the institute’s conference room, where your originals — educational qualification certificates (HSC, +2, ITI, Diploma, Degree), Birth/SSLC certificate, and caste, community and experience certificates — are verified at the time of reporting. Selected candidates get an engagement letter by e-mail, to be accepted within 03 days and joined within 07 days; if you miss either deadline your selection is treated as cancelled and no further query is entertained.
