IBPS RRB Recruitment 2026: 13,706 Office Assistant and Officer Posts in 28 Regional Rural Banks
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has released the CRP RRBs XV notification, and it carries 13,706 posts across 28 Regional Rural Banks spread over 26 states and two union territories. For Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I you need a Bachelor’s degree in any subject plus local language proficiency, which makes this one of the biggest openings a fresh graduate will see this year. If you have been waiting for banking jobs that do not demand a specialist degree, this is the one to prepare for. Online registration runs from 1 September 2026 to 21 September 2026.
Please do not treat this as one single application. You may apply for Office Assistant and for Officers, but within Officers for only one of Scale-I, II or III — more than one is summarily rejected — so choose before you pay anything. This guide from GovtJobsAlert.in takes you through the post-wise vacancies, the qualification for each cadre, the age relaxation, the fee, the exam pattern and the conditions that quietly end candidatures every year. Read the state option rule with care — it is the one choice you can never change later.

How Many Vacancies are There in IBPS RRB 2026 Office Assistant and Officer Posts?
The category split changes completely from one post to the next, so read the row for the post you want instead of the grand total.
| Post | Category-wise Vacancies | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Office Assistant (Multipurpose) | UR 3,452 / SC 1,252 / ST 762 / OBC 1,914 / EWS 803 | 8,183 |
| Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager) | UR 1,752 / SC 627 / ST 318 / OBC 1,139 / EWS 420 | 4,256 |
| Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer | UR 292 / SC 96 / ST 44 / OBC 171 / EWS 63 | 666 |
| Officer Scale-II IT Officer | UR 79 / SC 24 / ST 13 / OBC 48 / EWS 18 | 182 |
| Officer Scale-II Chartered Accountant | UR 39 / SC 14 / ST 6 / OBC 17 / EWS 5 | 81 |
| Officer Scale-II Law Officer | UR 28 / SC 3 / ST 2 / OBC 10 / EWS 3 | 46 |
| Officer Scale-II Treasury Manager | UR 15 / SC 0 / ST 0 / OBC 2 / EWS 1 | 18 |
| Officer Scale-II Marketing Officer | UR 9 / SC 1 / ST 2 / OBC 3 / EWS 1 | 16 |
| Officer Scale-II Agricultural Officer | UR 19 / SC 5 / ST 3 / OBC 8 / EWS 3 | 38 |
| Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager) | UR 105 / SC 29 / ST 14 / OBC 55 / EWS 17 | 220 |
Treasury Manager carries no SC and no ST seat at all this year, and Law Officer has only three SC and two ST seats in the whole country. If that is your post and your category, the honest position is that your chances are very thin, so look at Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer as well before you pay a separate fee. PwBD seats are horizontal reservations counted inside these totals, not extra posts on top; ESM and DESM reservation exists only for Office Assistant. Tripura Gramin Bank has reported its vacancies as “NR” (not reported) for every post, so nothing from Tripura is included above. IBPS also says clearly that all these numbers are indicative — the final allotment is made on the actual vacancies the banks report later.
What is the Eligibility for IBPS RRB 2026 Office Assistant and Officer Scale I?
Educational Qualification
| Post | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Office Assistant (Multipurpose) | Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or its equivalent; local language proficiency essential. Desirable: working knowledge of computer |
| Officer Scale-I | Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or its equivalent; local language proficiency essential. Preference (a stated preference, not a bar) for degrees in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics or Accountancy. Desirable: working knowledge of computer |
| Officer Scale-II General Banking | Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks, plus 2 years as an officer in a bank or financial institution. Preference for degrees in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics or Accountancy |
| Officer Scale-II IT Officer | Bachelor’s degree in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology with minimum 50% marks, plus 1 year experience in the relevant field. Desirable: certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC or OCP |
| Officer Scale-II Chartered Accountant | Certified Associate of the ICAI, plus 1 year experience as a CA |
| Officer Scale-II Law Officer | Degree in Law with minimum 50% marks, plus 2 years as an advocate or bank law officer |
| Officer Scale-II Treasury Manager | Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance from a recognised university, plus 1 year experience in the relevant field |
| Officer Scale-II Marketing Officer | MBA in Marketing, plus 1 year experience |
| Officer Scale-II Agricultural Officer | Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy, Animal Husbandry, Forestry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering or Pisciculture with minimum 50% marks, plus 2 years experience in the relevant field |
| Officer Scale-III | Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks, plus 5 years as an officer in a bank or financial institution |
Two points here decide a lot of applications. First, your result must be declared on or before 21 September 2026 — a degree still awaiting result on that date does not count, and the proof from your board or university has to be produced later. Second, IBPS ignores fractions when checking percentage, so 49.99% is treated as less than 50%. If you are a graduate looking for government jobs and your aggregate sits just under the line, the Scale-II and Scale-III posts are closed to you, but Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I are still fully open because they ask for no minimum percentage.
Age Limit
| Post | Age as on 1 September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Office Assistant (Multipurpose) | 18 to 28 years |
| Officer Scale-I | Above 18 and below 30 years |
| Officer Scale-II (all streams) | Above 21 and below 32 years |
| Officer Scale-III | Above 21 and below 40 years |
| Category | Age Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 3 years |
| Persons with Benchmark Disabilities | 10 years |
| Ex-Servicemen / DESM (Office Assistant only) | Service rendered plus 3 years (8 years for Disabled Ex-Servicemen of SC/ST), maximum 50 years |
| Ex-Servicemen commissioned officers, ECOs and SSCOs (Officer posts) | 5 years — you must have rendered at least 5 years military service and been released on completion of assignment, including where the assignment is due to end within one year of 21 September 2026. Release on account of physical disability attributable to military service, or on invalidment, also qualifies; release by dismissal or discharge for misconduct or inefficiency does not. Subject to the ceiling in the Government guidelines |
| Widows, divorced women and women legally separated and not remarried (Office Assistant only) | Up to 35 years General/EWS, 38 years OBC, 40 years SC/ST |
| How they combine | SC/ST/OBC(NCL) relaxation may be combined with only ONE of the remaining relaxations (PwBD, ESM/DESM, or widow/divorced-women) — not with several |
🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and instantly check your eligibility — including any age relaxation you qualify for. →
The upper limits above apply to General and EWS candidates only.
What is the Salary for IBPS RRB 2026 Office Assistant and Officer Posts?
Be careful with what you read elsewhere on this. The CRP RRBs XV notification does not state any pay scale, basic pay, grade pay or allowance figure anywhere. IBPS runs the common examination and the common interview; your actual pay is fixed by whichever Regional Rural Bank you are finally allotted to, at the time of appointment, under that bank’s own service rules. Any exact in-hand figure you see quoted for this notification has been carried over from earlier years, not taken from this advertisement. Treat those numbers as an estimate only, and wait for the appointment letter from your allotted bank for the real figure.
What is the Selection Process and Exam Pattern for IBPS RRB 2026?
| Cadre | Stages |
|---|---|
| Office Assistant (Multipurpose) | Online Preliminary, then Online Main, then Provisional Allotment |
| Officer Scale-I | Online Preliminary, then Online Main, then Interview, then Provisional Allotment |
| Officer Scale-II and Scale-III | Single Level Online Examination, then Interview, then Provisional Allotment |
| Examination | Pattern |
|---|---|
| Preliminary (Office Assistant and Scale-I) | 2 tests, 80 questions, 80 marks, 45 minutes |
| Main (Office Assistant and Scale-I) | 5 tests, 200 questions, 200 marks, 120 minutes |
| Single Level (Scale-II General and Scale-III) | 5 tests, 200 questions, 200 marks, 120 minutes |
| Single Level (Scale-II Specialist) | 6 tests, 240 questions, 200 marks, 150 minutes |
| Interview (Officer posts only) | 100 marks, minimum 40% to qualify (35% for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates). You travel at your own expense; outstation SC/ST/PwBD candidates get II class to-and-fro rail or bus fare, unless already in government service |
| Negative marking | One-fourth of the marks assigned to that question is deducted for each wrong answer at every stage — so a 1.25-mark Reasoning or Quantitative question costs 0.3125, not 0.25; no penalty for a blank question |
| Normalisation | Scores from different sessions normalised by the equi-percentile method |
| Sectional minimum | A minimum score must be obtained in each individual test at Preliminary, Main and Single Level; clearing the sectional minima alone is not enough, the total must also be high in merit |
| Interview shortlisting | Not more than three times the declared vacancies in each category — and for Officer Scale-I, in each state — are called |
The notification says the interview applies only to Officer Scale-I, II and III, so as the process stands today Office Assistant has no interview and the final merit there comes from the Main examination marks alone. For Officers the weightage between the online examination and the interview is 80:20. Because a wrong answer costs one-fourth of that question’s own marks, guess only when you can genuinely narrow the options down. IBPS also keeps the right to modify the structure and duration of the tests, so check the exam pattern and syllabus again nearer your exam date.

What is the Application Fee for IBPS RRB Recruitment 2026?
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| SC / ST / PwBD (and ESM / DESM for Office Assistant) | ₹175 including GST |
| General / EWS / OBC | ₹850 including GST |
| Full exemption | None — no category is exempted from the fee in this notification |

| Edit window fee | ₹200 including GST to correct the form in the 2-day Edit Window — one correction only, never refunded, and a GEN/EWS/OBC to SC/ST/PwBD category change does not refund the original fee |
Payment is online only, through debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS or mobile wallet, and your bank’s transaction charges are yours to pay. Once registered, an application cannot be withdrawn and the fee is never refunded or held in reserve for another examination.
What Conditions Can Cancel Your IBPS RRB 2026 Candidature?
| Condition | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| State option | For Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I the State or UT you choose is irrevocable, and allotment stays within the banks of that state |
| Local language | For Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I, proficiency in the state’s local language is essential; studying it in standard VIII or above counts, otherwise you get six months from joining to acquire it, never beyond probation |
| Ex-Servicemen benefit | An Ex-Serviceman who already used the ESM reservation once for a central government job will not be eligible for that benefit on a second occasion |
| Twin / triplet status | If you have a twin, triplet or quadruplet sibling you must declare it in the form. Non-disclosure counts as suppressing material information and disqualifies you |
| One application per cadre | Not more than one application per cadre; only the latest completed one is kept and fees for the rest stand forfeited |
| Nationality | Indian citizens, or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who entered India before 1 January 1962, and persons of Indian origin who migrated from listed countries. Everyone other than an Indian citizen needs a Government of India certificate of eligibility. ‘Nationality’ cannot be edited later |
| Multiple appearances | Multiple attendance or appearance in the examination or interview will be summarily rejected and candidature cancelled |
| Biometric and Aadhaar | Right-thumb biometric data and your photograph may be captured and matched at different stages; refusing on any one occasion can cancel candidature. Keep a valid Aadhaar — online Aadhaar verification is run on candidates and scribes, and you must not change your appearance from the uploaded photo |
| OBC creamy layer | Creamy-layer candidates, and those whose caste is not in the Central List, are not entitled to OBC reservation and must apply as General. The OBC non-creamy-layer certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2026; the EWS certificate must be for 2026-27 on financial year 2025-26 |
| Result cut-off | The result must be declared on or before 21 September 2026, failing which candidature is cancelled |
| Keep the Prelim call letter | The Preliminary call letter is stamped and returned to you, not collected. Turn up at the Main exam without that stamped call letter and stamped ID photocopy and you will not be allowed to sit it |
| Documents at interview | In the absence of valid documents at interview, verification or joining, candidature shall be cancelled |
| ID and photo at the centre | Ration Card and Learner’s Driving Licence are not valid ID here, and a signature in CAPITAL LETTERS is not accepted. At every examination in this process, reporting without the photograph pasted on the call letter, or without one spare identical photograph, bars you from the exam. A changed name needs the original Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit |
| Serving employees | Government, PSU and bank employees must produce an original No Objection Certificate; a conditional NOC will not be considered |
| EWS ceiling | EWS needs family gross annual income below ₹8,00,000 AND none of these assets, whatever the income: 5 acres of agricultural land or more, a flat of 1,000 sq ft or more, a residential plot of 100 sq yards or more in a notified municipality, or 200 sq yards or more elsewhere |
| Still in defence service | Officer applicants must certify release on or before 20 September 2027 — failure results in immediate disqualification |
| Canvassing | Any canvassing or influence for undue advantage shall lead to disqualification |
| Exam centre | No request to change the exam centre is entertained, and IBPS may allot you a centre outside the State or UT whose vacancies you applied for. Choose the medium-of-examination version carefully, and note that where the English and translated versions of a test differ the English version prevails |
| False information | Ineligibility or false information found at any stage cancels candidature, and services are liable to be terminated even after appointment |
| Allotment is final | Once you are provisionally allotted to an RRB, no request to change it is entertained — and making one cancels your candidature. Declining the allotted bank’s offer forfeits your selection, and once appointed you may be posted anywhere |
| Handwritten declaration | It must be in your own handwriting, in English only, and not in capital letters — written by anyone else, or in any other language, and the application is invalid. If the handwriting is later found dissimilar on expert analysis, the candidature will be cancelled |
| Name spelling | Your name and your father’s or husband’s name must match your certificates exactly; any change or alteration found may disqualify the candidature |
| Allotment is not a job | Appointment still depends on being declared medically fit, and the allotted RRB may in its sole discretion reject anyone the CRP sends it. The reserve list, and the CRP itself, expire one year after provisional allotment |
| Failed payment | An application with an unsuccessful fee or intimation-charge payment is not treated as a valid application |
| Previously debarred | Candidates debarred by IBPS from appearing in CRP examinations for a specified period must act accordingly, and IBPS shares that list with other recruiting agencies |
| Unfair means | Carrying a mobile phone into the hall, swapping seats, filming the paper, leaving without permission or giving false particulars makes you liable to criminal prosecution, disqualification, a permanent or fixed-period debarment from all IBPS examinations, and termination if you have already joined |
| Behaviour in the hall | Any unruly behaviour or misbehaviour can cancel your candidature and bar you from future IBPS examinations too |
| Answer-pattern analysis | IBPS compares your answers and logs against other candidates for patterns of similar right and wrong answers. If it concludes responses were shared, it can cancel candidature without any notice, with nothing caught in the hall |
| Detected later | False or misleading information, or any process violation, disqualifies you and bars you from every future IBPS CRP; if it is caught only after this process ends, the disqualification applies with retrospective effect |
| Scribe for PwBD | Ask for a scribe and compensatory time (20 minutes per hour) in the online form itself — a later request may not be entertained. You arrange and pay for the scribe yourself; where the scribe is availed under the 10.08.2022 Government OM the scribe must be one step below your qualification, and for Specialist Officer posts from a different academic stream. A scribe may serve only one candidate, must not be a candidate, and wrong information about either can get the candidate and the scribe debarred and the candidature cancelled |
How to Apply Online for IBPS RRB 2026?
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the official IBPS website and click the CRP for RRBs link (see Essential Links — IBPS RRB 2026 Notification PDF and Apply Online) |
| 2 | Choose the Officers link or the Office Assistants link — these are two separate applications |
| 3 | Click New Registration and save the registration number and password you receive |
| 4 | Fill the form and upload photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration and your SSC / SSLC / 10th certificate, plus a live photo captured through webcam or mobile. Any of these missing, smudged or blurred and the application is rejected |
| 5 | Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I: select your State or UT for provisional allotment, and pick exam centres inside that State or UT. Officer Scale-II and Scale-III: record your order of preference for the RRBs — no change is entertained afterwards |
| 6 | Use Save and Next to check every field, because nothing can change after Complete Registration |
| 7 | Pay the fee online and keep the e-receipt and the application printout |
Keep three things ready before you start: your degree marksheet with proof that the result was declared on or before 21 September 2026, your caste, EWS or disability certificate in the exact Government of India format, and your experience certificate if the post asks for one. Those are the papers whose absence forfeits your claim later. Do not post any document to IBPS — everything is uploaded through the link they publish.

With 13,706 posts and no percentage bar on the two largest cadres, this is genuinely the best shot most graduates will get at a bank job this year. Start with the Preliminary syllabus for reasoning and numerical ability, because that is the gate everything else sits behind. Apply in the first week rather than the last — the IBPS portal slows badly on the closing days, and an unpaid or failed fee makes the application invalid. Keep checking GovtJobsAlert.in and our banking jobs page for the call letter and exam updates.
