| Post Name (Post Code) | Discipline / Trade | Vacancies |
|---|---|---|
| Technical Assistant (813) | Mechanical | 6 |
| Technical Assistant (814) | Chemical | 1 |
| Technician ‘B’ (815) | Electronic Mechanic | 1 |

| Fireman ‘A’ (802) | Fireman | 1 |

One point to be clear about: the notification does not print a grand total anywhere. 19 is the sum of the six post rows above (6 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 1 + 1), so treat it as a computed figure rather than a number quoted by LPSC. Posting-wise, Valiamala gets 11 posts and Bengaluru gets 8. Please note that the horizontal reservations are within these numbers and are not extra seats — one Technical Assistant (Mechanical) post at Bengaluru and the single Technician ‘B’ (Electronic Mechanic) post are PwBD backlog vacancies, one of the five Fitter posts at Valiamala is for a PwBD (HH) candidate, and two of the nine Fitter posts are for Ex-Servicemen. You must apply separately for each post you are interested in.

Along with pay, ISRO employees get medical facilities for self and dependents, a subsidised canteen, House Building Advance, Leave Travel Concession, and coverage under the National Pension System or Unified Pension Scheme as per Central Government orders.
There is one more thing that makes ISRO special. Career growth for scientific and technical staff runs on the Merit Promotion Scheme — you are reviewed and promoted to the next grade on merit after a prescribed residency period, without waiting for a vacancy to open up. That is a big advantage over most government departments.
What is the Selection Process for ISRO LPSC 2026?
For Post Codes 813, 814, 815, 816 and 817, the process has two stages:
- Written Test — 80 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes, one mark per correct answer, with negative marking of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer. The syllabus is curriculum based and tests both theory and practical knowledge.
- Skill Test — candidates are shortlisted from the written test in a 1:5 ratio, subject to a minimum of 10 candidates. The skill test is purely on a go / no-go basis, and its marks are not counted for selection.
Final selection is based only on your written test score, among candidates who clear the skill test. If two candidates tie, the academic score in the notified qualification decides the order. The qualifying marks are 32 out of 80 in the written test for unreserved candidates and 24 out of 80 for reserved candidates applying against reserved posts.
What is the Fireman ‘A’ Selection Process and Physical Test in ISRO LPSC 2026?
Post Code 802 (Fireman ‘A’) follows a different route. You must first submit a Preliminary Medical Examination certificate with your application. Then comes a written test of 80 questions in 120 minutes with 0.25 negative marking, followed by a two-stage Physical Efficiency Test and finally a Detailed Medical Examination. Both the physical stages are on a go / no-go basis. Build your preparation plan with the help of our exam pattern and syllabus resources.
