Eligibility Criteria for RailTel Recruitment 2025

Applicants must fulfill the age, educational qualifications, and experience requirements as of the last date of receipt of online applications. Only regular full-time courses from recognized institutions will be considered. 

Educational Qualifications, Age Limit & Experience

Here’s a breakdown of the eligibility criteria for each post:

1. Assistant Manager/Technical/E-0

  • Educational Qualification: Diploma in Electronics or any other combination of Engineering branches where Electronics is one of the branches (e.g., Electronics & Instrumentation); or M.Sc. (Electronics); or equivalent in Electronics. 
  • Age Limit: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 28 years. 
  • Experience: Mandatory 5 years’ experience in areas specified in Annexure-I, in Central Govt. Org./State Govt. Org./PSU or a private organization with a turnover of ₹300 crore or more. 

2. Deputy Manager/Technical (Network/IP)/E-1

  • Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg) in Electronics & Telecom; or Telecom; or Computer Science; or Computer & Communication; or Information Technology; or Electrical; or Electronics; or any other combination of Engineering branches where Electronics is one of the branches (e.g., Electronics & Instrumentation); or M.Sc. (Electronics); or MCA; or equivalent. 
  • Mandatory Valid Certification: CCNA, JNCIA, NRS I, or a higher-level certification from Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia. 
  • Age Limit: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 30 years. 
  • Experience: Mandatory 2 years’ experience in areas specified in Annexure-I, in Central Govt. Org./State Govt. Org./PSU or a private organization with a turnover of ₹300 crore or more. 

3. Deputy Manager/Technical (Signalling)/E-1

  • Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg) in Electronics & Telecom; or Computer Science; or Computer & Communication; or Information Technology; or Electronics; or any other combination of Engineering branches where Electronics is one of the branches (e.g., Electronics & Instrumentation). OR Diploma/PG Diploma in Rail Signalling from a reputed institution recognized by AICTE. 
  • Age Limit: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 30 years. 
  • Experience:
    • For Engineering Graduates: Mandatory 2 years’ experience in areas specified in Annexure-I. 
    • For Diploma/PG Diploma in Rail Signalling: Minimum 1 year experience in areas specified in Annexure-I. 
    • Experience must be in Central Govt. Org./State Govt. Org./PSU or a private organization with a turnover of ₹300 crore or more. 
    • Preference will be given to holders of IRSE License from IRSE UK or similar recognized by NABCB in Railway Signaling Design/Testing/Project Implementation/Maintenance. 

4. Assistant Manager/Marketing/E-0

  • Educational Qualification: MBA/PG Diploma in Business Administration (2 years full-time course) with specialization in Marketing/Telecom/IT or equivalent. 
  • Age Limit: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 28 years. 
  • Experience: NIL. 

5. Assistant Manager/Finance/E-0

  • Educational Qualification: MBA/PG Diploma in Business Administration (2 years full-time course) with specialization in Finance or equivalent. 
  • Age Limit: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 28 years. 
  • Experience: NIL. 

Note: Age relaxation for various categories is applicable as per Annexure-III of the vacancy notice. Only post-qualification experience will be considered. Teaching/academic experience and training as part of curriculum will not be counted.

Salary and Benefits (CTC)

Successful candidates will be offered attractive remuneration packages.

Pay Scale 

  • E-0 Level Posts (Assistant Manager): ₹30,000 – ₹1,20,000/- 
  • E-1 Level Posts (Deputy Manager): ₹40,000 – ₹1,40,000/- 

Approximate CTC

  • E-0 Level Posts: ₹9 Lakh (approx.) + annual Performance Related Pay (Maximum upto 40% of annual Basic Pay). 
  • E-1 Level Posts: ₹12 Lakh (approx.) + annual Performance Related Pay (Maximum upto 40% of annual Basic Pay). 

Note: The scale of pay and other service benefits may be changed at the discretion of the management. 

Selection Process for RailTel Engineers & Managers

The selection process will involve the following stages:

  1. Online Examination:
    • Multiple Choice Questions. 
    • Maximum Marks: 150. 
    • Duration: 120 minutes. 
    • No negative marking. 
    • Exam Centres: Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad/Secunderabad, or any place decided by management. 
    • The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English). 
    • Syllabus:
      • Professional Knowledge (related to educational qualification and job duties): 100 marks. (Syllabus in Annexure-II) 
      • General Knowledge, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, Aptitude etc.: 50 marks. 
  2. Interview:
    • Maximum Marks: 50. 
    • Candidates equal to three times the number of vacancies will be called for an interview based on merit in the online exam. 
  3. Document Verification:
    • Candidates shortlisted for the interview will be required to produce original documents for verification. 

Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 60% or above marks cumulatively in the online exam and interview to be eligible for empanelment. Final empanelment will be based on merit and vacancy availability.

Candidates must apply online through the official RailTel website. No other mode of application will be accepted.

  2. Read Instructions: Carefully read the complete vacancy notice and online application instructions. 
  3. Registration (Step-I):
    • Fill in personal and contact details. 
    • Verify mobile number and email ID via OTPs. 
    • Agree to terms & conditions, re-verify details, and submit to receive Application Sequence No. (User ID) & Password. 
  4. Application Filling (Step-II):
    • Log in using the User ID and Password. 
    • Click on “Go To Application”. 
    • Fill in Eligibility Criteria, Communication Details, Qualification & Experience Details. 
    • Upload scanned copies of:
      • Latest passport-size colored photograph (not older than 3 months, 3.5cm x 4.5cm, 100KB-200KB JPG/JPEG). 
      • Scanned signature (black or blue ink, 80KB-150KB JPG/JPEG). 
      • Scanned left thumb impression (80KB-150KB JPG/JPEG). 
    • Upload all relevant documents (Educational Qualification, certifications, Caste certificate, Experience Certificate, etc.). 
  5. Fee Payment:
    • Submit the application and pay the applicable fee online via CC Avenue Payment Gateway (Net Banking, Debit/Credit Cards, UPI). 
  6. Preview and Submit:
    • Preview the application form for any errors before final submission. Once submitted, the form cannot be edited. 
  7. Print Application:
    • After successful submission and fee payment, print the application form for future reference. Do NOT send hard copies to RailTel. 

Important Note: Candidates can apply for only one post as the examination will be held in a common session. 

Application Fees

  • General/Other Unreserved Candidates: ₹1200/- 
  • SC/ST/PwBDs: ₹600/- 

Payment is to be made online through the payment gateway. Any processing charges/bank charges will be borne by the applicant. 

The application fee of ₹600/- for SC/ST/PwBDs is refundable (after deducting bank charges) if they appear in the written examination. The fee will not be refunded for incomplete applications or if the application is rejected. 

Probation and Service Agreement

  • Probation Period: Selected candidates will be on probation for two years from the date of joining. 
  • Service Agreement: Selected candidates will have to execute a service agreement of ₹2 Lakhs to serve RailTel for a period of three years from the date of their joining.
