SBI’s marks page is a simple login form that shows only the marks you scored. It does not publish any cut-off marks, a Main exam date or the number of candidates shortlisted, so please do not trust any figure you see elsewhere until SBI posts it on its own careers site.

What Do SBI PO Prelims Marks 2026 Mean for the Main Exam?
As per the advertisement, SBI draws a category-wise merit list on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Examination, and there is no sectional cut-off in Prelims. About 10 times the number of vacancies in each category are shortlisted for the Main Examination from the top of that list. Prelims marks are not added to the final merit list, and appearing in Prelims is not counted as a chance. SBI also analyses candidates’ responses for patterns of similarity, and if answers are found to have been shared, it reserves the right to cancel the candidature.

What is the Eligibility for SBI PO 2026?
Educational Qualification
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
- Final-year or final-semester candidates could apply provisionally, provided they show proof of passing on or before 30 September 2026 if called for interview.
- Candidates with qualifications like Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant are also eligible.
- Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) holders must have passed on or before 30 September 2026.
- Candidates who have defaulted on any loan or credit card dues with banks, NBFCs or financial institutions and have not regularised or repaid them by the date of joining shall not be eligible for appointment.
Age Limit
The candidate’s age should be between 21 and 30 years as on 1 April 2026 (born between 2 April 1996 and 1 April 2005, both days inclusive). Cumulative age relaxation is not available, and OBC candidates in the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation.

The descriptive test checks communication skills through emails, situation analysis and report or precis writing, typed on the computer. Each Mains candidate must clear a minimum qualifying score in every test and the descriptive paper, as decided by the Bank. About 3 times the category-wise vacancies are then shortlisted for Phase-III. In the final merit list, Mains is normalised to 75 marks and Group Exercise plus Interview to 25. One-fourth of the marks of a question are deducted for each wrong answer in the objective tests.
