Eligibility Criteria for SSC GD Constable 2026
Educational Qualification (As on 01-01-2026)
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) Examination from a recognized Board/University.
- Note: Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are not eligible if they do not produce proof of passing by the cut-off date.
Age Limit (As on 01-01-2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 23 Years
- Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02-01-2003 and later than 01-01-2008.
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- OBC: 3 Years
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 Years after deduction of military service.

Selection Process Explained
The recruitment process consists of four stages:
- Computer Based Examination (CBE):
- Duration: 60 Minutes
- Total Questions: 80 (2 marks each)
- Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning, GK & General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, English/Hindi (20 Q each).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- Languages: English, Hindi, and 13 Regional Languages.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
- Male: 5 Km race in 24 minutes.
- Female: 1.6 Km race in 8 ½ minutes.
- (For Ladakh Region: Male – 1.6 Km in 7 min, Female – 800 meters in 5 min)
- Physical Standard Test (PST): Measurement of Height, Chest (Male), and Weight.
- Medical Examination (DME/RME) & DV: Detailed Medical Examination and Document Verification.
How to Apply Online: Important Instructions
- New Website: Applications must be submitted on the new SSC website:
https://ssc.gov.in. - One-Time Registration (OTR): Complete the OTR process if applying for the first time on the new portal.
- Live Photograph: The application module captures a live photograph. Ensure you have good lighting and a plain background. Do not upload a pre-existing photo. Do not wear a cap, mask, or spectacles.
- Force Preference: You must fill preferences for all 7 forces (BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, AR, SSF) in order of priority. This cannot be changed later.
