The JTO and Cardiology posts each have a single OBC seat and no Unreserved seat. The notification gives an age limit only for OBC on these two posts. No post in this advertisement has an ST seat.

What is the Eligibility for UPSC Recruitment 2026 Advt 12/2026?

For Assistant Legislative Counsel, the rules say a person shall not be eligible unless they hold the law degree and meet one of these:

Periods in these offices are counted together, and legislative drafting experience gets preference. Desirable for JTO: M.Sc. (Chemistry) or M.Tech (Sugar Technology), and experience editing scientific reports. Part II Third Schedule medical degree holders must also meet Section 13(3) of the IMC Act.
UPSC may relax qualifications for otherwise well-qualified candidates. For Assistant Legislative Counsel, experience may be relaxed for SC candidates, and experience may be relaxed up to 50% for PwBD on reserved posts if enough candidates are not available. Please do not count on any relaxation when you apply.

Special Condition for the Law Officer OBC Seat
The Law Officer OBC seat follows GNCTD rules. You get OBC reservation only with a certificate showing your caste is notified as OBC by GNCTD. A certificate from outside Delhi counts only if it says the caste is notified as OBC by GNCTD and it was made on the basis of a GNCTD OBC certificate of your father, siblings or paternal uncles who lived in Delhi before 8 September 1993. If you cannot find your caste in the Central List on the form, enter “0” or “NA”.

The Cardiology post prohibits private practice of any kind, which is why a Non-Practicing Allowance is paid. UPSC may also grant a higher initial pay to candidates judged meritorious in the interview. Probation is one year for JTO and Cardiology and two years for the two law posts; Law Officers must also finish at least two weeks of induction training.
