The Basic Pay for this level starts at Rs. 56,100/- per month. It’s important to understand that this is just the basic component. Your total monthly gross salary will be significantly higher after all allowances are added.
Let’s break down the components of your salary:

- House Rent Allowance (HRA): You will receive HRA if you are not provided with government quarters. The amount varies based on your city of posting.
- Transport Allowance (TA): This allowance is given to cover your daily travel expenses between your home and your place of work.
Apart from these allowances, you will also be entitled to other benefits like medical facilities for yourself and your dependents. You will also be enrolled in the National Pension System (NPS), which helps build a secure retirement fund. This combination of a strong basic pay and comprehensive allowances makes it a financially rewarding and stable career.
WBHRB GDMO Selection Process Explained
The selection for the GDMO post will be based on a merit list prepared from a total of 100 marks. Based on the notification, the selection process is based on academic scores, experience, and an interview.
The 100-mark distribution is as follows:
Academic Marks (Total 70 Marks)
Your percentage in the MBBS degree (or FMGE for foreign medical graduates) holds the highest weightage. The board will award marks on a slab basis. For example, candidates scoring 75% or more will receive the full 70 marks, while those in lower percentage brackets will receive fewer marks.
Note: You must upload your “Attempt/Chance Certificate.” Marks will be deducted for each additional attempt taken to pass the MBBS examination (0.5 marks per attempt, up to a maximum of 2.5 marks).
Experience (Total 15 Marks)
Candidates with relevant medical experience (in Govt. or Private practice) will be awarded marks. A minimum of 6 months of experience is required to claim these marks. The full 15 marks are awarded for 60 months (5 years) or more of experience. You must provide valid experience certificates to claim this weightage.
Interview (Total 15 Marks)
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their combined scores from Academics and Experience. These shortlisted candidates will then be called for a personal interview, which is the final stage of selection.
Important Note on Selection
The notification clearly states that the WBHRB reserves the right to hold a Written Examination or Computer Based Test (CBT) at any stage to shortlist candidates for the interview. If a test is conducted, the marking scheme detailed above may be changed.
