The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has released the 2026 (III) prospectus to form a panel for 575 vacant 3-year tenure posts of Senior Resident / Tutor in State Medical Colleges and Hospitals, under the Health Department, Government of Bihar. Source quota: 40% Bihar Health Service cadre, 40% PG (residency scheme) from State medical colleges, 20% PG (residency scheme) from recognised institutions outside the State. The Health Department can change post-wise vacancies without giving reasons.
What Is the Eligibility for BCECEB Senior Resident / Tutor 2026 (III)?
Educational Qualification

Equivalent PG degrees under Medical Council of India teacher norms are accepted, and DNB / DNB Super Speciality is valid per latest NMC guidelines. Candidates must be citizens of India. PG in more than one subject means a separate application for each department. Lecturers and Assistant Professors without SR / Tutor service are eligible.
Who Is Not Eligible
- A doctor who has already completed a 3-year SR / Tutor tenure in the same subject. You may apply in a different subject.
- Doctors with a pending departmental proceeding or criminal case, or who are suspended or on long leave: these cases will not be considered.
- Candidates whose degree is not MCI-recognised.
- Candidates debarred by UPSC or another selection commission for misconduct for the specified period.
- Candidates who cannot produce their failure marksheet are Not Eligible.
Once selected in one subject, you will not be selected in another. An affidavit that you never completed a 3-year SR / Tutor tenure in the applied subject is compulsory; without it eligibility is cancelled.

What Is the Salary for BCECEB Senior Resident / Tutor 2026 (III)?
The prospectus says: after appointment to the tenure post, doctors will get an honorarium (मानदेय) of Rs. 1,15,000/-. Doctors already in the Bihar Health Service cadre will get the same pay they already draw, with dearness allowance and other admissible allowances.
The prospectus does not state the period (monthly or otherwise) for Rs. 1,15,000/-.
Tenure is 3 years. For PG-bond candidates the service period counts within the bond period and a departmental NOC is compulsory. No travel allowance is paid for counselling.
What Is the Selection Process for BCECEB Senior Resident / Tutor 2026 (III)?
The prospectus prescribes merit points, then counselling and document verification. The minimum qualifying points are 16.

Only regular or contractual government experience counts, not a course, fellowship or training. No marks for a duplicate degree, or for MRCP / FRCS-type degrees obtained on or after 11 November 1978. The application link is not live yet; registration opens on 2 November 2026. Until then use the notice page in Essential Links. Use your own (or father’s / mother’s) mobile number and email, which cannot be changed after verification.
- Open the BCECEB notice page or website (links in Essential Links below) and download the prospectus.
- Click “Online Portal of Senior Resident / Tutor under Health Dept.”, then “Apply for Senior Resident / Tutor”, then New Registration.
- Register with a verified mobile number and email, then sign in with your registration number and password.
- Select your department, then fill personal, contact and educational details. Upload a colour photo and signature.
- Check the preview, then click “Final Submit & Proceed to Payment”.
- Pay the counselling fee online by 23 November 2026 (11:59 PM).
- Download the confirmation page and fee receipt. Corrections are allowed only until 24 November 2026 (11:59 PM).
No hard copy goes to the Board; carry it to counselling with originals plus one extra photocopy of your MBBS and PG certificates, medical registration and NOC. Without a current non-creamy-layer certificate you are treated as UR; a wrong category claim is also treated as UR and the category cannot be changed.

The fee is the same for every category, with no exemption. Pay only online by Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI. An extra processing charge applies (amount not stated). The fee is not refunded. If a payment fails after debit, pay the full fee again; unpaid applications are rejected. A fee not reflected in the Board’s account by the due date leaves the application incomplete, and you cannot join counselling.
