ECIL Technician Recruitment 2025: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring to apply for the ECIL Technician (Gr-II) posts must fulfill the following eligibility criteria regarding age and educational qualifications:

Educational Qualification & Experience:

  • The applicant should have Matriculation/SSC or its equivalent
  • PLUS an ITI certificate (NTC) with National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the respective trade. 
  • OR Matriculation/SSC or its equivalent PLUS an ITI certificate (NTC) with one-year relevant experience in manufacturing processes as on April 30, 2025. 
  • The ITI Certificate (NTC) must be in the trades mentioned in the vacancy table (Electronics Mechanic, Fitter, Machinist, Electrician, Turner, Sheet Metal, Welder, Carpenter, Painter). This includes NTC, Board Based Basic Training, as well as advanced modules under the Multi-skilled training pattern of the Directorate General of Labour & Employment1 implemented through ITIs upgraded as Centres of Excellence in the required trades. 

Age Limit (as on April 30, 2025):

  • The upper age limit for Unreserved (UR) candidates is 27 years
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST candidates: Relaxed by 5 years. 
    • OBC (NCL) candidates: Relaxed by 3 years. 
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) (degree of disability 40% or above): Further relaxed by 10 years. 
    • Candidates ordinarily domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989: Relaxed by 5 years. 
    • Ex-servicemen: Eligible for age relaxation for the service rendered in Defence plus three years. 
    • Contract labour (including fixed-term employees) who have worked/are working in ECIL: Age relaxation up to 40 years. The resultant additional relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates will also be allowed on this account. Such candidates must submit experience certificates in the prescribed format.

ECIL Technician Salary and Benefits

Selected candidates for the post of Technician (Grade-II) will be placed at a basic pay of ₹20,480 per monthwith an annual increment of 3%. In addition to the basic pay, candidates will be entitled to:

ECIL Technician Selection Process 2025

The selection methodology for the ECIL Technician (Gr-II) posts will comprise a two-stage selection process:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT):
    • The CBT will be of Multiple Choice Type. 
    • The test duration will be 120 minutes (2 hours) for 100 questions. PwD candidates will get an extra 20 minutes per hour. 
    • Each question will carry 1 mark, and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. 
    • The question paper will be available in English, Hindi, and Telugu. In case of any discrepancy, the English version will be considered final. 
    • The syllabus will primarily focus on objective type questions derived from the core ITI trades relevant to the candidate’s specialization. 
    • CBT will be conducted in cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Kolkata. Candidates can choose their preferred city at the time of online application, but the final allotment will be at ECIL’s discretion. 
  2. Trade Test:
    • Candidates will be shortlisted for the Trade Test based on their performance in the CBT, in a ratio of 1:4. 
    • If more than one candidate secures equal marks in the CBT, the candidate with higher marks in the eligible qualification will be called for the Trade Test. 
    • The Trade Test will be conducted in Hyderabad. 
    • No Personal Interview will be conducted. 

Weightage: The weightage for CBT and Trade Test is 85:15, respectively. Candidates need to secure a minimum of 50% marks in each stage and 60% overall to be considered for selection. Relaxation in performance standards will be applicable for SC/ST and OBC candidates as per ECIL’s discretion if suitable candidates are not available under standard norms. 

Document Verification: Before the Trade Test, there will be a Document Verification process on the same day. Candidates must bring their Hall Ticket, Government ID proof, and original documents along with self-attested photocopies. 

How to Apply for ECIL Technician Recruitment 2025

Eligible candidates, including internal employees, must apply online through the official ECIL website. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the ECIL website.
  2. Navigate to Careers: Click on the “Careers” section and then “Current Job Openings.” 
  3. Find the Advertisement: Look for the advertisement for “RECRUITMENT OF TECHNICIAN (GR-II)” (Advt. No.: 07/2025). 
  4. Online Registration: The online application portal will be operational from May 16, 2025 (14:00 hrs) to June 05, 2025 (14:00 hrs). 
  5. Fill the Application Form: Carefully fill in all the required details in the online application form.
  6. Upload Documents: Upload your recent color passport size photograph (4×3 cm with blue background, less than 100kb) and signature (less than 50kb), both in JPEG format.

  8. Submit Application: After completing the online application and fee payment, a system-generated application number will be assigned. Retain this for future reference. 
  9. Print Application: Take a printout of the registered online application form. Affix your recent color passport size photograph, sign it, and bring it along with self-attested copies of all relevant documents for document verification before the Trade Test. 

ECIL Technician Application Fees

  • General/OBC (including non-creamy layer)/EWS candidates: ₹750 (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only). Applicable bank charges/taxes are to be borne by the candidates. 
  • SC/ST/PwBD/Officers from Defence/Regular ECIL employees (including Fixed Term Contract employees currently engaged with ECIL within the stipulated age limit): Exempted from payment of Application Fee.
