What is the Eligibility for GBU Faculty Recruitment 2026?
Qualifications follow the GBU/UGC Regulations 2018, as amended. A post graduate degree is the base for every post. The cadre-level rules are below.
| Cadre | Essential Requirement |
|---|---|
| Professor (route A) | Ph.D. in the concerned or allied discipline, at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals, research score of 120, and 10 years of teaching or research experience with a doctoral candidate successfully guided |
| Professor (route B) | Outstanding professional with a Ph.D. from an academic institution or industry, with significant contribution to the field supported by documents, and 10 years of experience |
| Associate Professor | Ph.D., Master’s with at least 55% marks, 8 years of teaching or research experience equivalent to Assistant Professor, 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals, and research score of 75 |
| Assistant Professor | Master’s with 55% marks (5% relaxation as per GBU academic ordinance clause 3.4) in a relevant subject, plus UGC/CSIR NET or SLET/SET, or a Ph.D. under the UGC 2009 or 2016 regulations |
For Assistant Professor, a Ph.D. holder from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 (QS, THE or ARWU) is also accepted. Candidates registered for a Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 can be exempt from NET if they meet five conditions: Ph.D. in regular mode, thesis checked by two external examiners, open viva, two papers from the thesis (one in a refereed journal), and two conference papers backed by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar agency. NET is also not needed for Master’s subjects where UGC and CSIR do not conduct NET.
M.Phil or Ph.D. time counts as teaching experience only if you taught in active service without leave. Eligibility is fixed on the last date of application.
Department-wise essential degrees are listed here. Several engineering and management rows list NET or Ph.D. as “Desirable”, but the general Assistant Professor rule requires it unless the subject has no UGC/CSIR NET; ask the university.
