Indian Army Sports Quota 2026: Eligible Sports Disciplines

Educational Qualification

- For Naib Subedar (Sports): Be a medal winner in World / Asian Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games or World Cup, OR have represented India twice in these events, OR represented India in the Olympics.

For female candidates, the required height is 162 cm (with a 4 cm relaxation for North-East, Gorkha, Garhwali, Ladakhi and recognised tribal candidates).
What is the Salary for Indian Army Sports Quota 2026?
Selected candidates are enrolled directly as Junior Commissioned Officers or Non-Commissioned Officers and receive the same pay and allowances as regular serving Army personnel.
- Pay: As per Army Pay Rules, 2017 (and later amendments)
- Rank Entry: Havildar or Naib Subedar — much higher than a normal soldier entry

Shortlisting
Applications are first shortlisted on the basis of higher sports achievements. Shortlisted candidates receive a Call-up Letter (cum Admit Card) by email.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
- Male: 1.6 km run in 5 min 45 sec, plus a 9-feet ditch jump and zig-zag balance
- Female: 1.6 km run in 8 min, plus long jump and high jump
Sports Trial and Medical
Candidates then appear for the sports discipline trial (bring your own gear), followed by a medical examination by the Army Medical Team. A final merit list is prepared as per available vacancies in each sport.
