Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026: Preliminary Written Test Shortlist, Marks and Next Steps
The Kolkata Police Constable result for the Preliminary Written Test is out. Two lists were issued under a memo dated 12 October 2026: one for male candidates and one for female candidates. Both are titled as lists of candidates shortlisted for PMT & PET. In total, 43,766 male and 4,177 female candidates have made it into these lists, and each name comes with the marks scored out of 100.
If you wrote this test, open the list for your gender first and look for your application serial number, not just your name. This article explains what the two PDFs actually say, how to read the columns, what the court note means, and what the lists do not tell you. What Are the Key Highlights of Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026?
The two PDFs come from the recruiting board named only by the prefix PRB in the memo number. They carry no recruitment name, advertisement number or post title. We have covered them as the Kolkata Police Constable preliminary written test result, as it was submitted to us, and the memo code also carries the letters KP. Always match the memo number below with what you see on the official website.

How Many Candidates Are Shortlisted in Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026?
The last serial number in each list gives the number of shortlisted candidates. The male list runs to 912 pages and the female list to 93 pages.
| List | Last Serial Number | Pages |
|---|---|---|
| Male | 43,766 | 912 |
| Female | 4,177 | 93 |
The column “Selected under which Category” shows where each candidate was shortlisted. Here is the split of the male list.
| Selected Category (Male) | Candidates |
|---|---|
| UR-M | 23,873 |
| SC-M | 9,750 |
| EWS-M | 4,355 |
| OBC-M | 3,028 |
| ST-M | 2,622 |
A further 138 male rows carry an extra suffix after the category, such as -C, -EC or -MSP. The PDFs do not explain these suffixes, so we will not guess what they mean. Here is the split of the female list.
| Selected Category (Female) | Candidates |
|---|---|
| UR-F | 2,280 |
| SC-F | 923 |
| EWS-F | 409 |
| OBC-F | 307 |
| ST-F | 244 |
A further 14 female rows carry the same kind of unexplained suffix. These counts add up to the full lists. Note that a candidate who applied as SC, OBC or EWS can still appear as UR, so the category you applied under and the category you were shortlisted under can differ.
How to Read the Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026 List Columns?
Each page repeats the same header and the same six columns. Knowing them saves you from reading the wrong row.
| Column | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Sl. No. | Serial number in the list |
| Appl. Sl. No. | Your 8-digit application serial number |
| Name of the Candidate | Candidate name |
| Applied / Updated Category | Category you applied under, or later updated to |
| Selected under which Category | Category in which you were shortlisted |
| Marks Obtained in Preliminary Written Test | Marks out of 100 |
Search with your application serial number, because many candidates share similar names. Then check the category and the marks. If you cannot find it, check the other list before you worry.
What Does the Court Note in Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026 Mean?
Both PDFs carry one line marked with three stars on every page. It says the result shall be binding on the outcomes of court proceeding vide WPA 23371 of 2024 and other pending legal proceedings, if any.
| Condition | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| Result binding on court outcomes | The shortlist depends on the result of the court case WPA 23371 of 2024 and any other pending legal proceedings |
| “If any” | The line does not say which other cases exist, if any |
In simple words, being on this list is not a guarantee that the shortlist will survive every court order. Keep an eye on official notices, because a court decision can change what happens next.
Kolkata Police Constable Eligibility: Who Moves to the Next Stage?
Only candidates whose names appear in the male or female list are shortlisted for PMT & PET. The PDFs list marks scored and category, and nothing else about eligibility. They do not give any height, chest, age or education standard, so keep your own application details ready and wait for the official notice. If you were not shortlisted, the lists do not offer any other route.
Does the Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026 PDF Mention Salary or Fee?
Both PDFs are result lists, so they state no salary or pay scale and no application fee. We have not added any figure from outside the PDFs. Check the original recruitment advertisement on the official website for pay and fee details.
What Is the Selection Process After Kolkata Police Constable Result 2026?
The only stage these PDFs describe is the Preliminary Written Test, scored out of 100. Candidates in the lists are shortlisted for PMT & PET. The PDFs use this short form and do not expand it, and they do not describe what each test involves.
| Stage | What the PDFs Say |
|---|---|
| Preliminary Written Test | Marks out of 100 are shown for every shortlisted candidate |
| PMT & PET | Candidates in the list are shortlisted for it |
We have not added any other stage, standard or measurement here, because the PDFs do not give them. Read the official recruitment notice for the full process before you prepare for the next round.
