OPSC AEE Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria as per the original advertisement and subsequent corrigenda:

Educational Qualification

  • Must possess a Degree in Engineering in Civil for AEE (Civil) posts or a Degree in Engineering in Mechanical for AEE (Mechanical) posts.
  • Equivalent qualifications from a University or Institution recognized by the Government are acceptable.
  • Alternatively, candidates must be an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Civil or Mechanical, as applicable.
  • Crucial Date: Candidates must possess the required degree/qualification by February 26, 2024.
  • GATE Score: Must possess a valid GATE score in the specific engineering subject (Civil Engineering for AEE Civil, Mechanical Engineering for AEE Mechanical). Equivalent subject GATE scores are not accepted.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2023)

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 38 years (as on 01.01.2021, meaning candidates must be born not earlier than 02.01.1983 and not later than 01.01.2002).
  • Age Relaxation:
    • 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, Women, Ex-Servicemen.
    • 10 years for Persons With Disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more disability.
    • 15 years cumulative relaxation for PwD candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC categories.
    • Upper age limit relaxable up to 45 years for certain serving Junior Engineers who acquired the degree later.

Other Requirements

  • Must be a Citizen of India.
  • Must be of good moral character and sound health.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak Odia. Evidence required includes passing Middle School Exam with Odia, Matriculation with Odia medium, Class-VII final exam with Odia, or a specific Odia test.
  • Candidates with more than one living spouse are generally not eligible.
  • Government servants must inform their Head of Office and obtain a “No Objection Certificate” for document verification.

OPSC AEE Salary and Benefits

  • Selected candidates will be placed in Level-12 of the pay matrix under ORSP Rules, 2017.
  • Includes usual Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances sanctioned by the Government of Odisha.
  • Probation period is two years.

OPSC AEE Selection Process 2025

The selection process involves the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting based on GATE Score: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their valid GATE scores in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. The number of candidates shortlisted for the interview will be approximately two times the number of vacancies category-wise.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
  3. Final Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on:
    • Valid GATE Score: 90% weightage 
    • Interview Performance: 10% weightage 
    • Tie-breaking criteria (higher interview marks, then older age) will be applied if necessary.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates called for interview will undergo document verification.
  5. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must clear a medical examination conducted by a Medical Board.

Note: Interviews for candidates who applied before the February 26, 2024 deadline have already been conducted, but results are withheld pending court orders. Marks secured in those interviews remain valid. Fresh applicants and those updating scores will be processed according to the rules.
