Big update for every RRB Group D (CEN 09/2025) candidate — the Railway Recruitment Boards have released the RRB-wise number of applications received through a notice dated 25 August 2026, and the tentative grand total is 52,39,760 applications across all 16 RRBs. RRB Chandigarh tops the list with 6,40,717 applications, followed by RRB Mumbai (5,32,016) and RRB Guwahati (5,23,318), while RRB Bhubaneswar is the lightest at 1,21,258. Against the 22,195 vacancies notified for this CEN (the revised total after Corrigendum 2, as reported in this article), that is roughly 236 applications per vacancy at the all-India level. The RRBs have clearly marked these counts as tentative, and the notice adds that post-category-wise application data is not available because this is a mixed selection. Across all 16 RRBs, OBC candidates filed the largest share of applications at 20,34,679 (about 38.8% of the total), followed by SC at 14,60,296 (27.9%) and UR at 10,07,850 (19.2%); ST applications stand at 4,64,480 and EWS at 2,72,455. RRB Kolkata is the only board where UR is the biggest single block (1,60,903 of its 4,20,491 applications). The four busiest boards — Chandigarh, Mumbai, Guwahati and Secunderabad — together account for about 41% of every application filed for this CEN.

Important update for all RRB Group D (CEN 09/2025) candidates — the Railway Recruitment Boards have revised the tentative CBT schedule that was issued on 03 July 2026. Your Level-1 Computer Based Test will now be held on 16 days — 03 to 06, 09 to 14, 17 to 21 and 25 August 2026 (earlier it was 03 August to 21 August 2026), so some candidates may now get an exam date as late as 25 August. RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria 2026
To be eligible for the Railway Group D Bharti 2026, candidates must fulfill the following criteria as of the closing date of the application.
Educational Qualification
- For General Candidates: Passed 10th Standard (Matriculation) from a recognized Board/Institution OR passed ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- For Apprentices: Candidates holding a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT are also eligible.
- Note: Candidates waiting for their final results are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

RRB Group D Salary and Benefits (Pay Level 1)
