What is the RRB JE CEN 04/2026 Exam Date for CBT-1?
The long wait after the 13 September 2026 closing date is over. On 16 September 2026 the Railway Recruitment Boards released the tentative schedule for the first stage Computer Based Test (CBT-1) of CEN No. 04/2026, and the exam falls on three days at the end of October. Plan your revision around them, but hold on to the word RRB itself uses — tentative. Dates can still move, and the boards say every change will be put on their own websites first.
Nothing in this notice asks you to apply again, send a document or pay anything, so treat any message demanding money as a fraud. RRB repeats the same warning in the notice itself: be careful of touts who promise a railway appointment for a price, because selection here happens only through the Computer Based Tests and strictly on merit. No one can arrange a seat for you, and no one can move your exam date.

How to Check RRB JE CEN 04/2026 Exam City and Date Intimation?
You will not sit for all three days. Each candidate gets one date, one shift and one city, and that information reaches you through the Exam City and Date intimation on the website of the RRB you applied to. RRB says this link goes live roughly ten days before the exam, and the travel authority for SC and ST candidates opens at the same moment — so if you belong to either category, download it the same day rather than the night before you travel. The e-call letter, which is your admit card, comes later: about four days before the exam date shown in your intimation. Two separate links, two separate weeks, both on official RRB sites.
Keep the login details you created while applying safe, because everything is released behind that login. Once your city is known, book your travel early — an October exam in a metro means crowded trains, and reaching the centre late is nobody’s fault but the clock’s. Read the intimation carefully the day it opens, and follow the instructions that come with your e-call letter.
What Are the Aadhaar Rules at the RRB JE CEN 04/2026 Exam Centre?
This is the part of the notice most candidates will skip, and it is the part that can stop you at the gate. Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication is done at the exam centre before you are allowed into the hall. Sort all of it out now, not on exam morning.

The detailed advertisement for this CEN, however, lists only Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent, across 37 categories, with 3,993 vacancies in all. No vacancy figure, pay level or qualification for Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant appears anywhere in that advertisement, so we are not attaching a number to it. How Should You Prepare for the RRB JE CEN 04/2026 CBT-1 Exam?

The notification fixes pay at Level 6 of the 7th CPC with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400. DA, HRA and Transport Allowance follow Railway rules and are not itemised separately in this CEN.
Railway service also brings quarters where available, medical facilities, travel passes, pension and a clear ladder to Senior Section Engineer. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, 25% for ST, relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD candidates where PwBD vacancies remain unfilled. CBT-1 marks are used only for shortlisting and are not carried forward.
Stage 2: Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
Shortlisting is at 15 times the community-wise vacancy per RRB on normalised CBT-1 marks, though Railways may raise or lower that limit to ensure enough candidates. CBT-2 has 150 questions for 150 marks in 120 minutes (160 minutes with a scribe).

Stage 3: Document Verification

Conducted to the standard prescribed for your post in Annexure A. A candidate who clears both CBTs can still be found unfit, and no alternative appointment is offered — but you get one last and final Medical Appeal on payment of the prescribed charges, and that result is final.
