For Level 2, the 50% marks bar is not insisted upon for SC / ST / Ex-servicemen for NTPC categories and for candidates who hold a higher qualification such as graduation or post graduation. The notice also says that no relaxation in educational and Scouts & Guides qualification is allowed. Scouting Qualification (both levels)
- You must be a President Scout, Guide, Rover or Ranger or a Himalaya Wood Badge (HWB) holder in any section.
- You must have been an active member of a Scouts organisation for the last 5 years. The Certificate of Activeness must be in the Annexure-I format, issued on or after the date of notification.
- You must have attended two events at National level or All India Railway level, and two events at State level.

Both the lower and upper age limits are counted on 1 January 2027. A 10th / Matriculation or equivalent certificate showing your date of birth is mandatory, otherwise the application will be rejected. SC/ST/OBC candidates get the relaxation allowed in a general open market recruitment. The notice lists these relaxations in the upper age limit.

The notice says recruitment is at the minimum of the scale of pay in the Pay Matrix. It prints no rupee figure, so we do not quote one. Check the pay with the Northern Railway administration at the time of the offer.
What is the Selection Process for RRC NR Scouts & Guides Quota 2026-27?

The panel is made on merit, using both your written exam marks and your certificate marks. A separate exam is held for each level, tentatively on the same day in two shifts. Your candidature stays provisional at every stage, and merely filling the form does not entitle you to the written exam. You need at least 40% marks in the written exam to go ahead, with relaxation for reserved categories as per Railway Board rules.
The exam has 40 objective questions (40 marks) and 1 essay question (20 marks) on the Scouts & Guides organisation, its activities and General Knowledge. The syllabus is in Annexure-II. You can apply for both levels if you are eligible, but you must submit a separate application form with a separate fee for each. Keep your Matric certificate, your Scouting certificates and your Annexure-I activeness certificate ready. Do not post any original certificate to RRC, because originals are needed only at document verification.

The fee is payable online only. Cash, cheque, money order, IPO, demand draft or fee stamps are not accepted. A refund goes back to the source account, so pay from your own account. Minority means Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Sikhs. Economically Backward Classes means family income below Rs 50,000 a year, with a certificate in the Annexure-E format.

The Railway administration reserves the right to change the date or place of the exam, add an exam or cancel it. Candidates serving in Government or PSU jobs must show the NOC at document verification, failing which their candidature is cancelled.
