TNPSC CTSE Eligibility Criteria 2025
Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility conditions before applying. Admission to all stages is provisional.
Educational Qualification & Technical Qualification:
- Candidates must possess the prescribed educational and technical qualifications as of the date of the notification (21.05.2025).
- The qualifications should have been obtained in the order: SSLC + HSC/Diploma (or equivalent) + UG Degree + PG Degree + Ph.D.
- Examples of Educational Qualifications for Various Posts:
- Assistant Engineer (Civil) (Post Code 3270): A Degree in Engineering (Civil). Preference for PG Degree/Diploma in Public Health Engineering.
- Assistant Engineer (Civil) (Post Code 3531): B.E. (Civil) or equivalent, or Sections A & B of AMIE (India) in Civil Engineering.
- Junior Planner (Post Code 3602): Bachelor’s Degree in Town and Country Planning, or B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering, or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
- Assistant Engineer (Agricultural Engineering) (Post Code 1667): B.E. (Agriculture) or B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) or B.Sc. (Agricultural Engineering). Other engineering degrees may be considered if candidates with the primary qualification are unavailable.
- Agricultural Officer (Extension) (Post Code 1678): A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and adequate knowledge of Tamil.
- Junior Scientific Officer (Post Code 1767): M.Sc. (Forensic Science) with a relevant degree, or M.Sc. in the relevant subject for the group.
- Librarian Grade II (Post Code 3607): Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science (B.L.I.S).
- System Manager (Post Code 3664): B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science/Engg., IT, ECE, EEE or MCA/M.Sc. in Computer Science/IT.
- Translator (Tamil Cell) (Post Code 3106): A degree in Law and proficiency in Tamil.
- Assistant Section Officer (Translation) (Post Code 2069): A University Degree with Tamil in any part of the degree course.
- Candidates must upload supporting documents like SSLC/HSC/Diploma/Degree certificates, provisional certificates, or consolidated mark sheets. If certificates were issued after the notification date, proof of results publication on or before the notification date is required.
- Equivalence of qualification requires uploading the relevant Government Order.
Age Limit (as on 01.07.2025):
- Minimum Age:
- Candidates should have completed 21 years for all posts, except for Executive Officer, Grade I.
- For Executive Officer, Grade I (Post Code: 1653), candidates should have completed 30 years.
- Maximum Age Limit: Varies by post and category.
- For “Others” (Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s and BCMs):
- Generally 32 years for many engineering and technical posts.
- For Agricultural Officer (Extension) (Post Code 1678): 32 years (34 years for PG Degree in Agriculture or Ph.D.).
- For System Manager (Post Code 3664): 35 years.

- Failure to produce such documents (except for specific posts like Agricultural Officer (Extension), Translator, etc. ) will require passing the Tamil language test within two years of appointment.
Restrictions:
- Candidates not belonging to reserved categories with 5 or more years of service in Government of India or State/UT Government are not eligible.
- Only persons professing the Hindu religion are eligible for Assistant Engineer (Civil) (Post Code 3603), Assistant Sthapathi (Post Code 3527), and Executive Officer, Grade I (Post Code 1653). A community certificate or revenue authority certificate supporting the religion claim is needed.
- Persons with benchmark disabilities are not eligible for certain specified posts listed in the notification.

TNPSC CTSE 2025: Selection Process
The selection for TNPSC Combined Technical Services Examination (Non-Interview Posts) will be made through a single-stage Written Examination.
- Written Examination:
- Appearance in both Paper I and Paper II is compulsory. Candidates absent in either paper will not be considered for selection.
- Paper I (Objective – OMR Based):
- Part A: Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard, 100 questions, 150 marks, Qualifying Nature – 60 marks needed).
- Part B: General Studies (Degree Standard, 75 questions).
- Part C: Aptitude and Mental Ability (SSLC Standard, 25 questions).
- Total for Part B + C: 150 marks. Duration: 3 hours (for all parts).
- Paper II (Subject Paper – CBT/OMR based depending on post):
- Subject-specific paper (Degree/PG Degree Standard, 200 questions, 300 marks). Duration: 3 hours.

- Ranking Procedure:
- Merit list prepared based on total marks in Part B and Part C of Paper I, and Paper II.
- Tie-breaking criteria: Higher qualification, then seniority in age, then earlier application submission.
- Onscreen Certificate Verification:
- Candidates will be shortlisted for onscreen certificate verification based on written exam marks and reservation rules, in a ratio of 1:3 (General) / 1:2 (Reserved).
- Physical Certificate Verification and Counselling (wherever applicable):
- After onscreen verification, candidates will be called for physical certificate verification.
- For posts requiring counselling: Ratio of 1:3 (General) / 1:1.5 (Reserved).
- For posts not requiring counselling: Ratio of 1:1.2 (all categories) for physical certificate verification.
- For posts with a single cadre strength (no reservation), 3 candidates will be admitted.
- Final Selection:
- Based on total marks in the Examination (Part B & C of Paper I and Paper II) subject to the rule of reservation.

Candidates must apply online through the TNPSC’s official website.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- One Time Registration (OTR):
- It is mandatory to first register under the One Time Registration (OTR) platform on the Commission’s website.
- The OTR registration fee is Rs. 150/- and is valid for five years.
- Keep scanned images of a recent photograph (20KB-50KB, “Photograph.jpg”) and signature (10KB-20KB, “Signature.jpg”) ready. The photograph must be taken on or after the notification date, with the candidate’s name and date of photography printed at the bottom.
- A valid email ID and mobile number are mandatory.
- Linking Aadhaar with OTR is mandatory.
- OTR is not an application for any post; it’s a profile maintenance facility. Apply separately for each exam.
- Filling the Online Application:
- If already registered in OTR, log in using your User ID and Password on www.tnpscexams.in.

- Application Correction Window:
- An Application Correction Window will be available for 3 days (29.06.2025 to 01.07.2025) after the last date of submission. During this period, candidates can edit details in their online application. No modifications are allowed after this window closes.
- Printout:
- Candidates need not send a printout of the online application or any documents by post unless specifically asked.
