Educational Qualification and Experience
Every post needs an MBBS (or equivalent) recognised under the IMC Act, 1956 or by the NMC, plus an MD or MS in the subject of the post. Super-speciality departments need D.M. or M.Ch. in the subject. Teaching experience must follow the qualifying degree, in an NMC-recognised department. NMC-recognised equivalent degrees and experience are accepted.

Private practice of any kind, including laboratory and consultant practice, is prohibited.
What are the Modes of Recruitment for AIIMS Gorakhpur Faculty 2026: Direct, Deputation or Contract?
Associate and Assistant Professor posts are direct recruitment only. Professor and Additional Professor candidates may apply by direct recruitment, deputation or contract (retired faculty), if vacancies exist.
Deputation: only for Professor and Additional Professor. No reservation applies. The first term is 3 years, extendable as per DoPT rules.
Contract: for retired faculty of INIs and Government Medical Colleges at Professor or Additional Professor level, up to 68 years. The first contract is up to 1 year, extendable by a year or till 70 years or regular appointment, whichever is earliest. Pay is paid subject to satisfactory output and is all-inclusive, with tax deducted at source. Campus accommodation, if given, means a deduction of Rs 24,000 (Professor) or Rs 22,000 (Additional Professor) plus licence fee. Either side can end the contract on one month’s notice. The Institute can pay salary in lieu of notice, can end the contract without notice for misconduct or non-performance, can terminate it or keep payments withheld till satisfactory progress, and any violation of the terms cancels the appointment. No other paid assignment is allowed.
Downgrading: if no suitable candidate is found, Additional Professor or Associate Professor posts are downgraded to Assistant Professor in the same category, fillable on contract until regular filling.
