What Is the Eligibility for APPSC Group I Recruitment 2026?
Educational Qualification
Twelve of the thirteen post codes ask only for a degree, which makes this recruitment open to almost every graduate looking for a government job. Post Code 04 is the one exception.
| Post Codes | Required Qualification |
|---|---|
| 01 to 03 and 05 to 13 | Bachelor’s Degree from any recognised University in India established by a Central, State or Provincial Act, or an institution recognised by the UGC, or an equivalent qualification |
| 04 (DSP Communications) | B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, or Radio Engineering, from such a University or UGC-recognised institution, or an equivalent qualification |
Please read Post Code 04 carefully. It is reserved for engineering graduates of those three named branches only. A general degree holder cannot apply for the three DSP (Communications) seats, and an ECE graduate can still apply for all the other twelve post codes on the strength of the same degree.
Qualification Cut-Off Date
You must already hold the required qualification as on the date of the Detailed Notification. The Commission has also said that the date of the Detailed Notification will be treated as the crucial date in all aspects — age, community certificate, everything. So if your final semester result is still awaited, that single date decides whether you are eligible.
Age Limit and Physical Requirements
The age limit and age relaxation are not stated in this Brief Notification. APPSC will publish them in the Detailed Notification, and we will update this page the moment they do. For Post Codes 03 and 04 (both police posts), physical requirements are prescribed, and those standards will also appear in the Detailed Notification. Do not assume the usual police measurements — wait for the official figures.
What Is the Salary for APPSC Group I Recruitment 2026?
The pay scales are printed post code by post code in the notification, and all of them are officer-level scales.
| Pay Scale (₹) | Post Codes |

| 54,060 – 1,40,540 | 09, 10, 11, 12 |
The highest scale in this recruitment, ₹65,360 – ₹1,54,980, goes to the Divisional Development Officer posts, which also carry 35 of the 163 seats.
On top of basic pay, Andhra Pradesh government officers receive dearness allowance, house rent allowance and the other allowances admissible under state rules. The Commission has said the scale of pay will be confirmed again in the Detailed Notification, so treat the figures above as what has been officially notified today.
What Is the Selection Process for APPSC Group I 2026?
There are three stages, and each one filters candidates for the next.
| Stage | What It Involves |
|---|---|
| Screening Test | Preliminary exam, held offline in objective OMR format |
| Mains Written Examination | Descriptive type, seven papers of 180 minutes each |
| Interview | 75 marks |
Screening Test (Preliminary Examination)

Each paper runs for 120 minutes. Paper-I has four parts of 30 marks each — History and Culture; Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International Relations; Indian and Andhra Pradesh Economy and Planning; and Geography. Paper-II carries 60 marks for General Mental Ability and Administrative and Psychological Abilities, 30 for Science and Technology, and 30 for current events. Negative marking applies: one-third of the marks for a question are cut for every wrong answer. The full syllabus is annexed to the notification, and you can also follow our exam syllabus updates.
Mains Written Examination and Interview

Every Mains paper is of 180 minutes. The Telugu and English papers are only of qualifying nature, so their marks do not add to your merit score — but you still have to clear them. Papers I to V together with the interview carry 825 marks, and that figure alone decides your rank.
