Eligibility Criteria for APSC Assistant Engineer (Mechanical)

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions to apply:

Nationality and Residency:

  • Must be an Indian Citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
  • Must be a permanent resident of Assam. Proof requires a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued for educational purposes or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate from Assam.

Educational Qualification:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (B.E.) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from an institution approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognized by the Government.
    • OR, Passed Parts A & B of the Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE – India) examination in Mechanical Engineering, provided enrollment occurred on or before May 31, 2013.
  • The Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering must be obtained through a regular (full-time) course. Degrees obtained via distance education are not acceptable.
  • Candidates must upload relevant mark sheets for all semesters/years and the final pass certificate.

Age Limit (as of 01-01-2025):

  • Minimum Age: 21 years.
  • Maximum Age: 38 years.

Age Relaxation:

The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as follows:

  • SC/ST: 5 years (up to 43 years).
  • OBC/MOBC: 3 years (up to 41 years).
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years (irrespective of category).
