Indian Army ASC Centre (South) Civilian Recruitment 2026: 31 Fireman, Driver & Librarian Posts on 10th Pass

The Army Service Corps Centre (South), Agram Post, Bangalore has invited applications for 31 Group ‘C’ defence civilian posts under the Ministry of Defence. Fireman, Leading Fireman, Fire Engine Driver and Librarian are all on offer, and Matriculation is the common bar — but Fire Engine Driver also demands three years of heavy-vehicle driving experience and a valid licence. If you want a permanent central government job among defence sector jobs that needs no degree, this one deserves attention. Basic pay starts at Rs. 19,900 a month plus DA.

Two things must be clear first. All four posts are open only to male candidates, and the whole process is offline. The notification prescribes an offline route only — you fill the printed proforma attached to the notification, enclose your documents and post it to Bangalore so that it arrives by 18 September 2026. This guide from GovtJobsAlert.in takes you through the vacancy split, eligibility, physical test, written exam pattern and the strict envelope rules the Army has set.

Indian Army ASC Centre South Fireman Vacancy 2026 — Post and Category Wise Details

The reservation split is completely different for each post, so read the row for your own post rather than the summary row.

PostCategory-wise VacanciesSeats
FiremanUR 11 / SC 4 / ST 2 / OBC 8 / EWS 328
Leading FiremanEWS 1 only1
Fire Engine DriverEWS 1 only1
LibrarianUR 1 only1
All PostsUR 12 / SC 4 / ST 2 / OBC 8 / EWS 531
Horizontal reservation (counted within the above)4% for Persons with Physical Disability, 10% for Ex-Servicemen, 5% for Meritorious Sports Persons — the MSP share at the discretion of the Appointing Authority

This table hides a trap. Leading Fireman and Fire Engine Driver each carry a single seat reserved for EWS, and nothing else. If you are UR, SC, ST or OBC, those two trades are simply not open to you this time, however good your marks are. In the same way, the lone Librarian seat is Unreserved, so a reserved-category candidate must compete there on open merit with no relaxation. Only Fireman has seats across every category.

Inside the Fireman trade, the horizontal reservation is counted within these numbers, not added to them: one PwBD, one Ex-Servicemen and one Meritorious Sports Person seat sit inside the UR share, and one more Ex-Servicemen seat inside the OBC share. The notification records no PwBD vacancy for Leading Fireman, Fire Engine Driver or Librarian, so the only PwBD-reserved seat is in Fireman — but clause 8.7 still lets a PwBD candidate compete for the other three trades against General vacancies on open merit.

One line here catches people out every year: SC, ST and OBC candidates who apply against an unreserved post will not be given the age and other concessions meant for their category. Choose your post and your category box carefully, because you cannot switch later. Your date of birth will be taken only from the Matriculation certificate, and no request to change it will be considered or granted afterwards.

Interview for these posts will not be conducted, and the final merit is prepared purely on written test marks, subject to qualifying the skill, physical or practical test.
