Two rows deserve a second look. Assistant Gr. II is the only post with any Scheduled Tribe seat — 2 posts — so ST candidates eyeing any other grade will be competing in the open field. And Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Electrical) prints 4 EWS seats against only 3 UR, which is unusual but is exactly what the notification carries.

Two gates here decide a lot of applications. For Engineering Officer Gr.1 there is no way in without a live GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the matching paper — the degree alone is not enough. For Assistant Gr. II, only the NIELIT-conducted BCC is accepted; the notification says plainly that no other computer course shall be accepted for this post, so a private institute certificate will not pass document verification. If you are aiming at the two matriculation-level posts, keep an eye on other 10th pass government jobs too.

All posts carry leave, LTC, medical benefits and allowances as per Government of India norms, and probation for every post is initially two years. The jump from Level 2 to Level 6 is large, so if you hold a diploma with five years of experience, the Engineering Assistant post is worth the extra effort over the Technician grade.

Engineering Officer Gr.1 is the only post decided purely on the GATE score; every other post goes through a Computer Based Test, with a skill or trade test added for several. Document verification of originals follows for the shortlisted candidates. If two candidates tie on the CBT score or the GATE score, the older candidate by date of birth is placed higher in the merit list. Examination cities are Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Delhi and Kolkata, and CPRI may allot a centre other than the one you prefer.
