Cochin Shipyard Recruitment 2026 (CSL CMSRU): Safety, Fabrication, Outfit and Mooring Assistant Posts
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna PSU under the Government of India, has invited online applications for 6 contract posts at its Mumbai Ship Repair Unit (CMSRU). The posts are Safety Assistant, Fabrication Assistant (Welder), Outfit Assistant (Fitter Pipe/Plumber) and Mooring and Scaffolding Assistant. The contract runs for a maximum of five years, subject to project needs and your performance. You can be transferred between CSL units, and you must be ready to serve in any department, on board ships or at any site in India or abroad.

The Mooring and Scaffolding Assistant seat is reserved for ST only. It has no Unreserved seat, so a general candidate cannot be selected for it. CSL can also increase or decrease the vacancies, or cancel the recruitment, as it needs.

Mooring and Scaffolding Assistant experience can be one year less for ITI (NTC) holders in Sheet Metal Worker, Fitter Pipe (Plumber) or Fitter trades. Knowledge of Hindi or Marathi and good communication skills are desirable for the three Workmen posts, and MIG (CO2) welding experience is desirable for the Welder. These are not compulsory.
Only experience gained after you pass the required qualification counts, reckoned as on 12 November 2026. For the Workmen posts, Apprentices Act 1961 apprenticeship and paid training count as experience, but not for deciding your pay. For the Safety Assistant, paid training counts.
Your degree, diploma or board must be recognised by AICTE or the proper authority. If your qualification is an equivalent one, you must upload an Equivalency Certificate, or your application will not be considered. People already working as Safety, Fabrication, Outfit or Mooring and Scaffolding Assistants on CSL rolls cannot apply for those posts. Because the work is hazardous, PwBD candidates shall not apply. What is the Salary for CSL CMSRU Recruitment 2026?
The pay is consolidated, with no pay level. The Safety Assistant gets ₹23,300 a month in the first year, with an annual increase later and payment for extra hours, but the notification gives no later figures.

The Workmen table is for candidates who meet only the minimum experience. For completed years of on-roll experience in CSL or similar shipyards, beyond the minimum, higher pay may be offered. Extra-hours pay is per month, as stated by CSL.

Where many people apply, CSL grades the practical test and converts the grade into marks. If there are too many applications, CMSRU may first shortlist you on the certificates you upload, and only shortlisted candidates may attend. Tests are held at CMSRU or another place in Mumbai.

For experience, say clearly what work you did, and attach your experience certificate. If you are working now, add your offer letter and latest pay slip if you have no certificate. ST candidates need a recent community certificate from an officer not below Tahsildar rank, or they lose the reserved post and ST concessions.
