Reservation rules that change who can apply: an EWS seat that finds no suitable EWS candidate goes to the Unreserved category, so UR candidates may also apply for EWS seats. The notification also allows some flexibility. A candidate eligible for a higher post (Professor or Associate Professor) may be interviewed for a lower post and placed with a temporary upgradation. In Super Specialty departments, if no eligible candidate turns up, a lower-post candidate may be interviewed for the higher post and appointed in the lower post, and the Selection Board may relax the experience criteria. Teaching faculty can serve at most till 70 years of age or the contract period, whichever is earlier. The OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate must be in the Central Government format, issued by an officer not below Sub-Divisional Officer rank, and not older than one year from the interview date. EWS candidates must use the Annexure-I format of DoPT OM dated 31.01.2019.

Being a contract job, there is no PF, pension, gratuity, medical allowance, seniority or promotion. Leave is 2.5 days for each completed month, with no Earned Leave, Special Casual Leave or Commuted Leave, and faculty cannot do private practice after joining.
