The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the direct recruitment of Group ‘C’ Civilian posts through Advertisement No. 01/2025. This presents a significant opportunity for eligible Indian citizens to join the prestigious Indian Air Force. IAF Civilian Group C Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Educational Qualification & Experience:
    • Lower Division Clerk (LDC): 12th Class pass from a recognized Board. A typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi on a computer. 
    • Hindi Typist: 12th Class pass from a recognized Board. A typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi on a computer. 
    • Store Keeper: 12th Class or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. Desirable: Experience in handling stores and keeping accounts in a store of a concern of repute in the Public or Private sector. 
    • Civilian Mechanical Transport Driver (Ordinary Grade): Matriculation pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. Must hold a valid Civil Driving License for light and heavy vehicles. Must possess professional skill in driving and knowledge of motor mechanism. Minimum two years of experience in driving motor vehicles.
    • Cook (Ordinary Grade): Matriculation from a recognized Board with a certificate or diploma in catering. 1-year experience in the trade. 
    • Painter (Skilled): 10th pass from a recognized Board or Institute. Industrial Training Institute Certificate in the trade of Painter from a recognized institute OR Ex-servicemen in the appropriate trade viz. Painter. 
    • Carpenter (Skilled): 10th pass from a recognized Board or Institute. Industrial Training Institute Certificate in the trade of Carpenter from a recognized institute OR Ex-servicemen in the appropriate trade viz. Carpenter Rigger. 
    • House Keeping Staff (HKS): Matriculation pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. 
    • Laundryman: Essential: Matriculation pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. Desirable: One year of experience as Dhobi from an Organization or Institute. 
    • Mess Staff: Essential: Matriculation pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. Desirable: One year of experience as Waiter or Washer up from an Organization or Institute. 
    • Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Essential: Matriculation pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University. Desirable: One year of experience as Watchman or Lascar or Gestetner Operator or Gardener from an Organization or Institute. 
    • Vulcaniser: Matriculation pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University OR Ex-servicemen from the appropriate trade. 
  • Age Limit: For all posts, the age limit is 18-25 years. The crucial date for determining the age limit is the last date of receipt of the application. 
  • Age Relaxation:
    • OBC: 03 years. 
    • SC/ST: 05 years. 
    • Physically Handicapped (PwBD): 10 years (Additional 05 years for PwBD belonging to SC/ST & 03 years for OBC category). 
    • Ex-servicemen: As per government rules; allowed to deduct the period of service from actual age, and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age by more than three years. 
    • Departmental Employees: Up to 40 years for UR and 45 years for SC/ST. 
    • SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against UNRESERVED posts are not entitled to any relaxation in age limit, experience, etc. 

Important Dates for IAF Group C Recruitment 2025

  • Notification Publication Date: 17-23 May 2025 (in Employment News). 
  • Application Start Date: The application process begins from the date of publication of the advertisement.
  • Closing Date for Application Submission: Within 30 days from the date of publication of the advertisement (i.e., approximately by 15th June 2025 and by 22/06/2025 for remote areas.)

IAF Group C Salary and Benefits

The pay scale for the posts will be as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix:

  • Level-1 Posts (MTS, Mess Staff, Laundryman, HKS, Vulcaniser): As per Pay Matrix 7th CPC. 
  • Level-2 Posts (LDC, Hindi Typist, Store Keeper, CMTD (OG), Cook (OG), Painter (SK), Carpenter (SK)): As per Pay Matrix 7th CPC. Allowances and other benefits will be admissible as per existing government rules.

IAF Group C Selection Process 2025

The selection process will involve the following stages:

  1. Scrutiny of Applications: All applications will be reviewed based on age limits, minimum qualifications, documents, and certificates. 
  2. Written Test: Eligible candidates will be issued call letters and required to appear for a written test. The test will be based on the minimum educational qualification for the post. 
    • Syllabus for LDC/Hindi Typist: General Intelligence, English Language, Numerical Aptitude & General Awareness. 
    • Syllabus for MTS, HKS, Laundryman, Mess Staff & Vulcaniser: General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English, General Awareness. 
    • Syllabus for all other trades/posts: General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English, General Awareness, Trade/Post related questions. 
    • The question cum answer paper will be in English and Hindi. 
    • The written test will have 100% weightage. 
  3. Skill/Practical/Physical Test: The requisite number of candidates will be shortlisted based on merit/category in the written test and called for a skill/practical/physical test where applicable. This stage is qualifying in nature. 
  4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must bring original certificates and copies of annexures attached with the application for verification. 

How to Apply for IAF Civilian Group C Jobs 2025

Eligible candidates can apply to any of the Air Force Stations of their choice, subject to the vacancies and qualifications.

  1. Prepare the application as per the format given in the official notification (typed in English/Hindi). 
  2. Ensure the application is duly supported with self-attested copies of all required documents:
    • Educational Qualification certificates. 
    • Age proof. 
    • Technical Qualification certificates (if any). 
    • Experience Certificate (if applicable). 
    • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates, issued by competent civil authorities). OBC candidates must ensure their caste is listed under the Central List and submit a certificate that they do not belong to the creamy layer. 
    • EWS candidates must possess a valid Income & Asset Certificate for the Financial Year 2025-2026 (based on income for FY 2024-2025). 
    • Discharge book photocopy for Ex-servicemen (self-attested). 
    • PwBD certificate if applicable and seeking exemption from typing test (as per Annexure-II). 
  3. Affix a recent passport-size photograph (self-attested) on the application form. 
  4. Include any other supporting documents (self-attested). 
  5. Enclose a self-addressed envelope with a Rs. 10/- postage stamp pasted on it. The address should be typed in English/Hindi. 
  6. Clearly mention “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ______ AND CATEGORY ______” on the envelope. 
  7. Send the application to the concerned Air Force Station as per your choice within 30 days from the date of publication of the advertisement. A separate application should be forwarded for each post. 
  8. Two additional passport-size photographs (same as affixed on the application form) should be included.
