Before you choose a post, count your experience carefully. Add up the years and months across all your employers, using 30 days as one month and 12 months as one year. Then check that your salary in those years was at least the minimum pay for the level shown above. A candidate with enough years but a lower salary will be rejected, because the pay criterion is checked from your salary slips.
For Assistant, relevant experience means office clerical or administrative work, preferably in Central/State Government, academic institutions of national/state importance, PSUs, autonomous bodies or reputed private firms. Apprenticeship and training of any form do not count. Graduation received from the Armed Forces is not considered for Assistant, because the post is at Pay Level-06.

Age and eligibility are counted as on 14 November 2026. Ex-servicemen and PwD get relaxation as per Government of India rules. There is no upper age limit for regular IIMK staff applying for direct recruitment posts.

Regular staff also get accommodation (subject to availability), medical facility, LTC and the National Pension System. Remember that selected candidates join at the entry pay of the level and no pay protection is given. New joinees also cannot apply for outside employment for the first three years.

The notification names a Written Test only as the method of selection for all three posts. A few general instructions also say “Written Test/interview”, and the Selection Committee reserves the right to fix the selection criteria, so check the IIMK website regularly for updates.
