IIT BHU Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026: 55 Group B and C Posts Across 5 Cadres

IIT (BHU) Varanasi has opened Advertisement No. 03/2026-27 for 55 non-teaching posts across its Administrative, Technical, Library, Engineering (IWD) and Rajbhasha cadres. These are permanent Group B and Group C jobs at an Institute of National Importance, with pay on the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. If you are a graduate, a diploma holder or someone hunting for engineering govt jobs, there is very likely a post here that fits you.

The online window is open from 25 August 2026 to 24 September 2026 (till 5:00 PM), and there is a second deadline most people miss — a printed copy of your form has to reach Varanasi by post within seven days after that. Read the post you are applying for carefully, because the age limit, the fee and the experience demand all change from post to post. Everything below is taken straight from the notification, and GovtJobsAlert.in will keep this page updated.

How Many Vacancies Are in IIT BHU Junior Superintendent and Technician Recruitment 2026?

The reservation split is different for every post, so read your own row instead of the total. Several posts carry no SC, ST, OBC or EWS seat at all, and one of them carries only an Unreserved seat — that is the most common reason a fee gets wasted here.

Post (Code)Category-wise VacanciesTotal

Junior Technician Group-I (26119)UR 2, ST 1, EWS 14

Assistant Engineer (26125)UR 1, OBC 12
Junior Engineer (26126)UR 2, EWS 13
Junior Translation Officer (26127)UR 11

Two seats are reserved horizontally for PwBD candidates — one inside Junior Superintendent and one inside the Junior Technician group. These are counted within the totals above, not extra. The posts are reserved for OH, VI and HH candidates as notified; applicants of other special-ability categories may also apply, and if no suitable candidate of the notified category is available the seat may go to another special-ability category.

Notice the alternative route on Junior Technician Groups II to V, on Junior Engineer and on Assistant Engineer: a three-year diploma plus relevant experience is accepted in place of the degree. If you are a diploma holder, do not skip these posts. Equally, plain graduates in any subject can go for Junior Superintendent, which is the biggest opening here with 21 of the 55 seats. Your degree must be from a recognised University or Institute, and every experience claim has to come on the Annexure-A certificate format printed in the notification. Desirable extras are also listed and can help you at shortlisting: a higher degree or PG diploma in HR, Labour Laws, Financial Management or inter ICWA/CA for Junior Superintendent; hands-on computer work in a library of repute for Junior Library Assistant; and a translation diploma plus technical translation experience for Junior Translation Officer.

Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India norms, and relaxations for persons with special-ability follow the GoI reservation policy. The advertisement gives pay levels only and does not print any basic pay figures, so we are not quoting a rupee range here. The Institute has reserved the right to apply more stringent criteria than the advertised ones at any stage of shortlisting, and applicants with higher qualification and merit may be preferred. So treat the essential qualification as the floor, not as a guarantee of a call letter. The schedule for every stage is e-mailed to shortlisted candidates on their registered e-mail address, and no hard-copy call letter is sent — which is exactly why the notification insists on an active e-mail with free storage space.

Lists of shortlisted and non-shortlisted applicants, with application numbers and reasons for non-shortlisting, go up on the Institute website. If you want to object, your representation must reach the Institute within 5 days of that list being published. Brush up the basics of your subject early using our syllabus and exam pattern guides rather than waiting for the e-mail.
