Indian Army SSC Tech Salary and Benefits 2025

A career in the Indian Army is not just about service; it’s also about a rewarding life with excellent financial stability and benefits. As a Lieutenant, you will be placed in Level 10 of the pay matrix, with a starting salary of ₹56,100. This, combined with numerous allowances, makes the overall package highly attractive.

During the training period at PCTA, all cadets receive a fixed monthly stipend of ₹56,100. Upon successful commissioning, your pay scale will grow with your rank:

  • Lieutenant: Level 10 (₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500)
  • Captain: Level 10B (₹61,300 – ₹1,93,900)
  • Major: Level 11 (₹69,400 – ₹2,07,200)
  • Lieutenant Colonel: Level 12A (₹1,21,200 – ₹2,12,400)
  • And so on, up to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

In addition to the basic pay, you will be entitled to:

  • Military Service Pay (MSP): A fixed amount of ₹15,500 per month.
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): As per government rates.
  • Kit Maintenance Allowance: Subsumed into a Dress Allowance of ₹20,000 per year.
  • Transport Allowance (TPTA): ₹7,200 + DA in higher TPTA cities.
  • Children Education Allowance: ₹2,250 per month per child.

Indian Army SSC Tech Selection Process 2025

The selection process is a comprehensive test of your intellect, personality, physical fitness, and leadership potential. It consists of the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting of Applications: The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) will shortlist candidates based on the cut-off percentage of marks obtained in their engineering degree. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated via email.
  2. Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a five-day SSB interview at one of the selection centers (Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar). The SSB is a two-stage process:
    • Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and a Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). Candidates who clear Stage I will move to Stage II.
    • Stage II: This is a four-day process involving psychological tests, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks, a personal interview, and a conference.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a detailed medical examination.
  4. Final Merit List: A merit list will be prepared for each engineering stream based on the marks obtained in the SSB interview. Medically fit candidates who make the merit list will be issued joining letters.
