A few details here are easy to miss. The 7-year and 3-year licence condition for Drivers does not apply to applicants retired from military service who hold an HMV licence. You must also carry a valid HMV licence in hand to take part in the ground test and road test.

Drivers and Driver-cum-Conductors must produce a vision certificate from an ophthalmologist in Government service and a medical fitness certificate at the time of appointment.
