Three points can decide your application:
- Ph.D holders can be exempted from UGC NET only if the degree was obtained before the UGC cut-off date and all other UGC conditions are met. The Ph.D must be awarded as per UGC rules, including the mode of study.
- Distance mode degrees need a certificate from UGC or the university showing the qualification is recognised and valid.
- If not enough UGC-qualified candidates are available, applications from candidates without the prescribed UGC qualifications may be considered for a separate panel.

What is the Salary for Lakshadweep Guest Faculty 2026?
The pay is Rs 750 per hour, subject to a maximum monthly ceiling of Rs 22,500. The remuneration and other terms in the contract agreement will apply. Also, no travelling or daily allowance is paid for attending the interview. The nature, duration and place of engagement are decided by the Department.
Your duties include teaching, academic administration, hostel-related responsibilities and other work assigned by the Department. You will teach core subjects as well as supplementary and interdisciplinary subjects under NEP 2020. You can be deployed at any Higher Educational Institution in the Union Territory.

Experience marks have strict rules. One point is given for every 12 months of relevant experience, with a maximum of five points. Only experience in the corresponding post at institutions recognised by the Government counts, and you must attach proof of the institution’s recognition. Experience certificates without valid, verifiable details of the issuing authority will be rejected.
The interview can be online or in person, as decided by the Department. You must choose your preferred mode in the application form, and once exercised, this option is final and is not permitted to be changed. Selected candidates are placed in a merit or rank list.
