- Candidates registered for the Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 are exempt from NET/SLET/SET only if all five conditions hold: Ph.D. awarded in regular mode, thesis checked by at least two external examiners, an open viva voce held, two research papers published (at least one in a refereed journal), and two papers presented at UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or similar sponsored conferences.
- The Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of that university must certify these conditions.
- NET/SLET/SET is also not required for Master’s subjects where no such test is conducted.
- A SLET/SET score is valid only for respective State Universities, Colleges and Institutions. NET is the minimum eligibility under UGC Regulations 2018.
