MPESB Nayab Tehsildar Recruitment 2026: Limited Departmental Exam, Fee, Pattern and Dates
The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has released the rule book for the Naib Tehsildar limited departmental competitive examination 2026. Please read this line before anything else: this is not an open recruitment. Only people already serving in the Madhya Pradesh Revenue Department — on a clerical (Lipik) cadre post, or as a Patwari or Revenue Inspector — with at least 5 years of service may sit for it. If you are a general graduate hunting for government jobs in Madhya Pradesh, this exam is closed to you.
For the departmental staff who do qualify, this is the cleanest route into an executive post carrying Pay Level-9, starting at ₹36,200 plus DA. The form is live from 17 September 2026 to 1 October 2026, and the exam begins around 14 November 2026. The fee is a steep ₹2,000 for every category. Below are the post-wise vacancies, the service condition, the age ceiling, the exam pattern and the clauses that quietly cost people their candidature. Keep GovtJobsAlert.in open while you fill the form.

How Many Vacancies Are in MPESB Naib Tehsildar 2026? Post Code Wise Breakdown
The rule book never prints one combined figure. It gives two cadre figures — 46 for the clerical (Lipik) stream and 27 for the Patwari / Revenue Inspector stream — across four post codes, and together they come to 73 vacancies. The reservation split changes sharply from one post code to the next, so read your own row, not the bottom line.
| Post Code and Cadre | Category-wise Vacancies | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 01 — Clerical (Lipik) cadre, direct | UR 9 / EWS 3 / SC 5 / ST 6 / OBC 9 | 32 |
| 02 — Clerical (Lipik) cadre, backlog | UR 0 / EWS 0 / SC 0 / ST 6 / OBC 8 | 14 |
| 03 — Patwari / Revenue Inspector cadre, direct | UR 4 / EWS 1 / SC 2 / ST 2 / OBC 3 | 12 |
| 04 — Patwari / Revenue Inspector cadre, backlog | UR 0 / EWS 0 / SC 1 / ST 1 / OBC 13 | 15 |
| All four post codes together | UR 13 / EWS 4 / SC 8 / ST 15 / OBC 33 | 73 |
Two things catch people out. The backlog post codes 02 and 04 carry no Unreserved and no EWS place at all — as a UR or EWS candidate those two are shut to you whatever you score. And the “87% main” and “13% provisional/notional” tables on pages 5 and 6 only re-divide the openings shown above; they are not extra vacancies.
| Horizontal Reservation | How It Works Here |
|---|---|
| Women | 35% of the openings, compartment-wise inside every category. A woman’s place left empty is not carried forward — it goes to a male candidate of the same category |
| Persons with disabilities | 6%, split evenly across four disability types; here that comes to one locomotor-disability place under Post Code 01 |
| Ex-servicemen, contractual | Columns are printed in every table but show nil throughout |
Who Can Apply for MPESB Naib Tehsildar 2026? Eligibility and Service Rules
Service Requirement — the First Filter
This is where most readers will stop, and that is how the scheme is designed. Under Schedule 5 of the MP Junior Administrative Service Rules 2011, only a serving member of the Revenue Department can take this exam.
| Requirement | What the Rule Book Says |
|---|---|
| Who may apply | Only serving members of the MP Revenue Department |
| Qualifying service | At least 5 years, substantive or officiating, on a clerical (Lipik) cadre post, or as Patwari / Revenue Inspector |
| Establishments covered | Board of Revenue, Commissioner Land Records, Principal Revenue Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and Collector establishments, including SDO (Revenue) and Tehsil offices |
| Employee Code | Must be entered in the online application form |
| Domicile certificate | Not required, because this is a departmental exam for staff already serving the state |
| Attempts | Not more than three attempts under this scheme |
Educational Qualification
On top of the service condition you need a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in Arts, Science (including technical and engineering), Commerce or Agriculture. Any one of those four streams is enough — an ordinary graduate-level government job requirement, with no percentage bar. But the degree must be complete on the day you fill the form; one finished even a day later leaves you out of consideration.
Age Limit
| Category | Maximum Age |
|---|---|
| All candidates | 55 years as on 1 January 2026 |
🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and check whether you are within the age limit. →
The rule book fixes no minimum age and prints no age-relaxation table at all — 55 is a flat ceiling for every category. Work out your exact age on 1 January 2026 before parting with ₹2,000.
What is the Salary for MPESB Naib Tehsildar 2026?
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pay Matrix Level | Level-9 (MP Pay Revision Rules 2017) |
| Pay range | ₹36,200 – ₹1,14,800 |
| Initial pay | ₹36,200 plus Dearness Allowance |
| 6th Pay Commission equivalent | Pay Band ₹9,300 – ₹34,800 with Grade Pay ₹3,600 |
| Post category | Executive (Karyapalik) |
For a clerk or a Patwari this is a genuine jump — in authority far more than in money. Naib Tehsildar is an executive post in the MP Junior Administrative Service, and further promotions happen inside that cadre. Seniority is settled by this exam’s merit list, so your rank here follows you for years.
What is the Selection Process for MPESB Naib Tehsildar 2026?
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Online computer-based test | Two papers on the same day, objective type, Hindi and English medium |
| Verification of educational papers | Your educational documents are checked at the Office of the Principal Revenue Commissioner |
| Appointment | Two years’ probation with prescribed training and a departmental examination |
| Normalisation | Normalised Equi-Percentile scaling when the exam runs in more than one shift; cancelled questions are scored proportionately |
| Tie-break | Proportionate marks first, then the older candidate |
| Validity | The selection list stays valid for one year from the date the department issues it |
| Paper | What It Covers | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Paper I | Reasoning, General Knowledge, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Computer Knowledge | 100 |
| Paper II, Part 1 | Rules on government service — pay, allowances, leave, GPF/CPF, service and conduct rules | 30 |
| Paper II, Part 2 | Revenue terminology, departmental designations and jurisdiction | 20 |
| Paper II, Part 3 | MP Land Revenue Code 1959 (25), Revenue Book Circular (15), Land Records Manual (10) | 50 |
Each paper runs two hours for 100 marks, 200 in all. A correct answer earns 1 mark and 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer, so blind guessing works against you. You must score at least 55% marks to be selected, and SC and ST candidates need 40%. Paper II decides this exam: it is pure departmental law, and a serving Patwari already lives inside most of it. Run through the exam pattern and syllabus pages before you begin.
What Can Disqualify You in MPESB Naib Tehsildar 2026?
These are the clauses candidates skim past. Most can end a candidature — read the rows that apply to you twice.
| Condition | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| Preference order | Mark a preference for every post code you are eligible for. A post you leave out of the preference order will not be considered in your result even if you score high |
| Qualification cut-off | Your degree must be complete on the date you fill the form; a qualification earned afterwards makes you ineligible for consideration |
| One application only | One single form covers all posts. Applying more than once by any trick gets the application cancelled |
| Wrong information | Wrong, false or hidden information can get your exam entry, selection or appointment cancelled at any stage, and the Board may take legal action |
| Certificate per option | Upload the eligibility certificate for every post option you choose |
| Photograph specification | The photograph must be front-facing on a white background with both ears clearly visible, not more than three months old, and must carry the date it was taken and your name. A photo that misses this specification, or a missing or unclear photo, signature or handwriting, gets the application form cancelled |
| Canvassing | Any attempt to seek support for your candidature can have you declared ineligible to appear |
| Misconduct in the hall | Misbehaviour or any attempt to disturb the peace of the exam hall can have you declared ineligible |
| Fake papers, impersonation | Forged or altered documents, hidden material facts, or impersonation lead to disqualification and further action |
| Service record bars | You will not be appointed if a departmental inquiry with a charge-sheet is pending, if an adverse remark was recorded in your ACR in the last five years, if criminal proceedings are pending before a court or authority, or if a punishment was imposed on you within the preceding five years |
| Personal-status bars (Rule 9) | Every selected candidate must file a declaration under Rule 9 of the MP Junior Administrative Service Rules 2011. You are not eligible if you married below the legal minimum age, if you have more than two living children with one born on or after 26 January 2001, if you were convicted of an offence against women, or if the bigamy clauses apply to you or your spouse |
| The two provisos inside Rule 9 | The two-children bar has an express exception: if you already had one living child and the next delivery on or after 26 January 2001 produced two or more children at that birth, you are not disqualified. And where a case for an offence against women is still pending in court, you are not barred outright — your appointment is held pending until the court’s final decision |
| Reservation certificate | Reservation benefit is given only when the certificate from the competent authority is produced |
| Merit list | Your name in the list does not by itself create a right to appointment until the government is satisfied you are suitable in every way |
| No re-totalling | Once the result is out there is no re-totalling and no re-evaluation, and no reply is given to such requests |
| Photo ID and biometrics | Without an original photo ID you will be stopped from sitting the exam; Aadhaar-based biometric verification is compulsory |
| Reporting time | Candidates who reach after the reporting time are not allowed to enter, and nobody may leave the hall before the paper ends |
| Electronic devices | Mobile phones, calculators, log tables, sunglasses and digital watches are completely banned in the exam hall |
| Travel allowance | No travel allowance is payable for attending this examination |
| Post count | The number of posts and the post names may be increased, decreased or deleted |
| Probation | Two years’ probation with training and a departmental exam; if you are not found suitable you can be reverted to your original post |
How to Apply Online for MPESB Naib Tehsildar Recruitment 2026?
Applications are online only through the MP Online portal, and one form covers all four post codes. Keep ready your Employee Code, Aadhaar number or VID, photo ID details, marksheet number with marks obtained and maximum marks, and one scanned JPG holding your photograph, signature and two lines of handwriting. Certificates are not checked now, so your eligibility stays provisional until the department verifies it.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the official application portal (link in Essential Links below), read the rule book and instructions, then continue |
| 2 | Register as a Citizen User or log in, then fill the form — state, district, permanent identification marks, photo ID, Aadhaar, Employee Code, marks, and your appointment order number and date with your present place of posting |
| 3 | Upload the single scanned JPG carrying your photograph, signature and handwriting. The two handwritten lines are not free text — the rule book prints the exact declaration you must copy in your own hand: that every detail given in the application is completely true, and that if any of it is found false at any stage, or not satisfactory against the eligibility criteria, your candidature can be cancelled |
| 4 | Also scan and attach your original appointment order — this one is compulsory for this exam — along with the 8th, 10th or 12th marksheet that proves your date of birth, your SC, ST, OBC or EWS certificate and, if applicable, your disability certificate. The rule book says the form will not be accepted without these attachments |
| 5 | Mark your preference order for every post code you qualify for, and upload the eligibility certificate for each option |
| 6 | Re-check every entry, submit the form, and note down the application number shown on screen |
| 7 | Use “proceed to payment” and pay the fee with the portal charge by debit card, credit card, net banking or cash at an authorised kiosk |
| 8 | Save a printout of the submitted form; download your admit card later from the Board’s website using the application number |
Two documents decide whether a claim survives: the eligibility certificate for each post option you tick, and your category certificate from the competent authority. Without them the option or the reservation benefit simply lapses.

What is the Application Fee for MPESB Naib Tehsildar 2026?
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| All categories and cadres, departmental limited direct recruitment posts | ₹2,000 |
| Candidates for direct recruitment backlog posts | Nil, printed as “निरंक” in the fee table |
| MP Online portal charge, form filled at a kiosk | ₹60 |
| MP Online portal charge, filled by logging in as a Registered Citizen User | ₹20 |
| Each correction made in the form | ₹20 plus ₹40 portal charge, every time |
| Objection to a question after the answer key | ₹150 per question, plus other charges |
Payment is online only — debit card, credit card, net banking or cash at an authorised MP Online kiosk.
₹2,000 is unusually high and there is no SC, ST or OBC concession. That follows directly from what this exam is — a departmental exam for staff already drawing a government salary, not an open recruitment where a first-time aspirant’s ability to pay is weighed — so the fee table sets one figure for every category and cadre. The one exception printed there is the backlog column, shown as nil; read it exactly as the notification words it and confirm on the portal before assuming you owe nothing. Also, change your category during the correction window and the difference already paid is not refunded.
