CSIR-NEIST Apprentice 2026 — Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Graduate Apprentice (18 posts):

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Computer Science / IT from a recognized university
  • Only regular mode degree holders are eligible (distance / correspondence not accepted)

Technician Apprentice (11 posts):

  • Diploma in IT / Computer Science / Electronics & Telecom / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Only regular mode diploma holders are eligible

Important Conditions:

  • Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training are NOT eligible
  • Candidates with 1 year or more job experience are NOT eligible
  • Result-awaited candidates need not apply
  • Must have a verified 16-digit NATS ID (register at nats.education.gov.in)

Age Limit (As on 12 March 2026)

  • Graduate Apprentice: 21 – 27 years
  • Technician Apprentice: 18 – 25 years

CSIR-NEIST Apprentice 2026 — Stipend Details

This is an apprenticeship engagement (not regular employment) under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961. The stipend structure is:

  • Graduate Apprentice (B.E. / B.Tech): ₹12,300 per month
  • Technician Apprentice (Diploma): ₹10,900 per month
  • Duration: One year

💡 Important: This apprenticeship does NOT guarantee permanent employment at CSIR-NEIST. It is a one-year training engagement. However, it gives you valuable experience at a Central Government research institute, which looks great on your resume and helps in future government job applications.

CSIR-NEIST Apprentice 2026 — Selection Process

There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection is based on:

  1. Shortlisting — Based on academic marks in qualifying examination (B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma). Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview
  2. Interview — Conducted at CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam. Due weightage given to academic performance during selection. Candidates must bring original testimonials, mark sheets, certificates, and passport photograph to the interview.
  3. Document Verification — All original documents verified before final selection.
  4. Medical Examination — Candidates must fulfill medical standards before training begins.

Note: No TA / DA will be paid to candidates for attending the interview. Shortlisted candidates list with interview date and time will be uploaded on the CSIR-NEIST website.
