NPPA Recruitment 2026: Consultant & Young Professional Eligibility, Pay and How to Apply

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, has invited applications for 7 Consultant and Young Professional posts on a contract basis. The posts cover Medical Device, Cost, Pharma and Data Analysis work at the NPPA office in New Delhi. Pay is a fixed ₹50,000 to ₹65,000 per month. If you hold a pharmacy, biomedical, CA/CMA Intermediate or data-related degree, this is a good chance to work inside a central regulator. Readers following government jobs in Delhi should take a close look.

Applications must reach NPPA by 26 October 2026, by hard copy or by email. There is no online portal, so the format matters. NPPA is also preparing a reserve panel for Consultant (Data Analysis) and Consultant (Legal), but those two are not part of the 7 vacancies. Below we explain each post, the age limits, the marks-based shortlisting and the exact way to send your form. Read it fully before you apply. GovtJobsAlert.in has checked every figure against the official notice.

What is the Salary for NPPA Consultant & Young Professional 2026?

ComponentDetail
Consultant (Medical Device / Data Analysis / Legal)₹65,000 per month, fixed
Consultant (Cost – Grade-II)₹55,000 per month, fixed
Young Professional (Pharma / Medical Device / Data Analysis)₹50,000 per month, fixed
Annual increment5% of initial fee may be given after 1 year, on satisfactory performance
Leave12 days a year, pro-rata, besides Gazetted holidays
Official toursTA/DA as admissible to an Under Secretary to the Government of India

The fee is consolidated and includes applicable taxes. No DA, HRA or Transport Allowance is paid on top, and tax is deducted at source. Women may be eligible for maternity leave under the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017. However, un-availed leave is not carried forward in case of extension beyond one year, and “no work no pay” applies if you take more than the allowed leave.

Think about this pay honestly before you apply. ₹50,000 to ₹65,000 is a good fixed income for a fresh graduate or a CA/CMA Intermediate candidate, and it comes with real exposure to how India controls medicine and device prices. That experience carries weight later with pharma companies, consulting firms and regulators. But this is not a permanent job. There is no pension or seniority, and the contract is initially for one year.

What is the Selection Process for NPPA Consultant & Young Professional 2026?

A Selection Committee set up by the competent authority selects candidates in this order.

StageDetail
1. ShortlistingWeighted average of academic marks, out of 70
2. Personal Interview30 marks; communication, general awareness, interest in the field and experience
3. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)Qualifying only; MS Office skill is compulsory
Final MeritShortlisting 70 + Interview 30 = 100
PostShortlisting Weightage
Consultant (Cost – Grade-II)12th Class 20% + CA/CMA Intermediate or Final 50%
Consultant (Medical Device), Consultant (Legal), all Young Professionals12th Class 30% + Graduation 40%
Consultant (Data Analysis) – with PG12th 20% + Graduation 30% + PG 20%
Consultant (Data Analysis) – without PG12th 30% + Graduation 40%

For a 5-year integrated course, the degree carries 40% and the maximum for shortlisting is still 70 marks. Your 12th and degree marks decide whether you are called at all, so keep your marksheets ready.

This matters more than most candidates realise. The notice lists only shortlisting, an interview and a CPT, so 70 of the 100 merit marks are already fixed by your past results before you meet anyone. If your marks are average, put real effort into the interview, which carries the remaining 30. Be ready to explain your experience, why you want to work on drug or device pricing, and what you know about the field you applied for.

Shortlisted candidates get an email 10 days in advance for the interview and CPT. You must make your own travel arrangements, as no TA/DA is paid for attending.
