What is the Eligibility for OPSC Assistant Agriculture Engineer 2026?

Educational Qualification

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Engineering from a University or Institution recognised by a State Government or the Government of India.
  • No other equivalent qualification will be accepted — Civil, Mechanical or any other branch will not work here.
  • You must be a citizen of India and must not be under any current debarment by OPSC, another State PSC or the UPSC.
  • One hard rule: your degree, SC / ST caste certificate, Odia test certificate, disability certificate and Ex-Servicemen release certificate must all be issued on or before the date you submit your application — certificates issued later are not entertained. The SEBC certificate has its own window (see below).

Knowledge in Odia (Mandatory)

Many candidates miss this. You must read, write and speak Odia, proved by any one route below:

RouteRequirement
Middle SchoolPassed with Odia as a language subject
Matriculation or equivalentPassed with Odia as the medium in a non-language subject
Class-VIIPassed Odia as a language subject at a school recognised by the Govt. of Odisha or the Central Government
Odia TestPassed at Middle English School standard (School & Mass Education Dept., Odisha, or BSE Odisha)

Age Limit

You must be 21 to 42 years as on 1 January 2026born between 2 January 1984 and 1 January 2005. Only the date of birth in your High School Certificate, or an equivalent certificate from the concerned Board or Council, is accepted.

CategoryAge Relaxation
SEBC / SC / ST5 years
Women5 years
Ex-Servicemen5 years
Persons with Disabilities (40%+)10 years
PwD of SEBC / SC / ST15 years (cumulative)

Note the difference: the 10-year relaxation is open to anyone with 40%+ permanent disability, but the 6 reserved posts are only for Cat-II (HH) and Cat-IV (MD). Fall in more than one category and you get only one relaxation — the most beneficial. Reservation and relaxation for SC and ST (by birth) and for SEBC apply to Odisha candidates only; the SEBC certificate must be issued on or after 29 August 2023. Women of SEBC, SC or ST need a caste certificate showing “daughter of …” — one by marriage (“wife of …”) is not accepted.
