PFRDA Grade A Recruitment 2026: 30 Assistant Manager Seats in a Central Regulator
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority has opened its Officer Grade ‘A’ (Assistant Manager) recruitment for the year 2026. Thirty seats are on offer, spread across four completely separate streams — General, Research, Actuary and Official Language (Rajbhasha). The pay is the reason this advertisement matters: the starting basic is Rs 62,500 a month, and gross emoluments at the minimum of the scale work out to roughly Rs 2,05,000 a month. For a first job after post-graduation, in a central financial regulator, that is about as good as it gets.
The application window runs from 3 September 2026 to 24 September 2026, so you have a short three-week runway. Do not leave it to the last evening — the portal asks for a live webcam photograph and a handwritten declaration, and those take time to get right. In this article on GovtJobsAlert.in we have laid out the stream-wise seats, the exact qualification for each stream, the age table, the fee, the three-phase selection plan and the conditions that quietly end candidatures every year.

How Many Vacancies in PFRDA Grade A Recruitment 2026?
The reservation split differs in every stream, so read your own row — the total tells you very little about your own chances.
| Stream | Category-wise Seats | Total |
|---|---|---|
| General | UR 9 / OBC 7 / SC 4 / ST 2 / EWS 3 | 25 |
| Research | UR 1 / SC 1 | 2 |
| Actuary | UR 2 | 2 |
| Official Language (Rajbhasha) | OBC 1 | 1 |
| PwBD (horizontal, inside the General 25) | 1 Blindness and Low Vision / 1 Deaf and Hard of Hearing | 2 |
Look closely at the three small streams. Research has one Unreserved and one SC seat. Actuary has two Unreserved seats only. Rajbhasha has a single OBC seat. OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates may still apply to a stream where no seat is reserved for their category, but the notification says plainly that such candidates will not be eligible for any relaxation, age included. The two PwBD seats are horizontal — carved out of the General 25, not added on top. PFRDA has also reserved the right to increase or decrease the seats, or not to fill any of them, at any stage.
What is the PFRDA Grade A Eligibility Criteria 2026?
Educational Qualification
Everything below is reckoned as on 31 July 2026.
| Stream | Requirement |
|---|---|
| General | Master’s Degree or a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in any discipline; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Law; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; or ACA or FCA from ICAI; or ACS or FCS from ICSI; or ACMA or FCMA from ICMAI; or CFA from the CFA Institute |
| Research | Master’s Degree or two-year PG Diploma in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Econometrics, Quantitative Economics, Financial Economics, Mathematical Economics, Business Economics, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics or Business Analytics; or in Finance, Quantitative Finance, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Techniques, International Finance, Business Finance, International and Trade Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance or Agri. Business Finance; or in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Statistics & Informatics, Applied Statistics & Informatics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or Big Data Analytics; or a Master’s in Mathematics plus a one-year PG diploma in Statistics or a related subject |
| Actuary | Graduation from a recognised University, plus a pass or exemption in all seven Core Principles subjects of the Institute of Actuaries of India |
| Official Language (Rajbhasha) | Master’s in Hindi or Hindi Translation with English at Bachelor’s level; or a Master’s in Sanskrit, English, Economics or Commerce with Hindi at Bachelor’s level; or a Master’s in both English and Hindi |
The General Stream is unusually wide. A Master’s in any subject qualifies, which puts this post within reach of most post-graduates whatever their subject. It is equally open to engineering graduates with a plain B.E. or B.Tech, to law graduates with an LLB, and to commerce and finance professionals holding CA, CS, CMA or CFA membership. A two-year PG Diploma that the Association of Indian Universities recognises as equivalent to a Master’s also counts.
Two more points decide applications. Candidates awaiting the result of their final qualifying examination are eligible to sit all three phases, subject to the joining condition in the cancellation table below. PFRDA also expects you to be computer literate and comfortable with MS Word and Excel. You may apply for at most two streams, with a separate application and fee for each.
Age Limit
You must not have exceeded 30 years as on 31 July 2026, that is, born on or after 1 August 1996. The notification states no minimum age.
| Category | Maximum Age |
|---|---|
| Unreserved and EWS | 30 years |
| OBC | 33 years |
| SC and ST | 35 years |
| Ex-servicemen | 35 years |
| PwBD (General) | 40 years |
| PwBD (OBC) | 43 years, only where OBC seats are reserved in that stream |
| PwBD (SC and ST) | 45 years, only where SC or ST seats are reserved in that stream |
🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and instantly check your eligibility — including any age relaxation you qualify for. →
Age relaxation for SC, ST and OBC applies only where seats are reserved for that category in the stream you choose. PwBD candidates get their ten years whether the seat is reserved or not. An SC, ST or OBC candidate who is also PwBD or an ex-serviceman gets cumulative relaxation — the two add up.
What is the Salary for PFRDA Officer Grade A 2026?
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pay scale (17 years) | Rs 62,500 – 3600(4) – 76,900 – 4050(7) – 1,05,250 – EB – 4050(4) – 1,21,450 – 4650(1) – 1,26,100 |
| Starting basic pay | Rs 62,500 per month |
| Gross at minimum of scale | Approximately Rs 2,05,000 per month |
| Allowances inside that gross | PFRDA’s NPS contribution plus Grade, Special, Special Grade, Dearness, Local, Family, Special Compensatory, Learning and Housing Allowances |
| Probation | Two years |
PFRDA runs its own pay scale, so there is no 7th CPC Pay Level or Pay Matrix number attached to this post; if you see one quoted anywhere, it has been invented. Confirmation in service comes only after two years of satisfactory probation and verification of character and antecedents.
What is the Selection Process for PFRDA Grade A 2026?
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Phase I – Online Screening | 15 October 2026. Two papers of 100 marks each. Marks are used only to shortlist for Phase II and are not counted in the final selection |
| Phase II – Online Examination | 20 November 2026. Two papers of 100 marks each. Candidates numbering five times the seats are shortlisted for the interview |
| Phase III – Interview | Date intimated by email and SMS. You may choose Hindi or English |
| Final Merit | Phase II carries 85 per cent weight, the interview carries 15 per cent |
| Paper | Pattern |
|---|---|
| Phase I Paper 1 | English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness including the financial sector — 100 marks, 90 questions, 60 minutes |
| Phase I Paper 2 | General Stream: Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Companies Act, Economics, Pension Sector, Artificial Intelligence, Media, Marketing and Communication. Research, Actuary and Rajbhasha: the specialised subject of the stream — 100 marks, 50 questions, 40 minutes |
| Phase II Paper 1 | English descriptive test — 100 marks, 3 questions, 60 minutes, one-third weight |
| Phase II Paper 2 | The same stream subjects as Phase I Paper 2 — 100 marks, 50 questions, 40 minutes, two-thirds weight |
Three things decide your result here. First, there is negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question, in both Phase I papers and in Phase II Paper 2. Second, the Phase II descriptive English paper is evaluated only if you clear the qualifying cut-off in Paper 2, so the subject paper is the real gate. Third, you need a separate cut-off in every paper plus an aggregate cut-off in each phase. All papers except the English test are set in both Hindi and English, and the full syllabus is in the annexure — read it alongside our exam syllabus guides. PFRDA reserves the right to modify the selection process at any stage.

Payment is online only — card, net banking, IMPS, cash card or mobile wallet. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, including if you are not shortlisted for Phase II or Phase III. Pay only after your registration is successfully completed, or the application is treated as cancelled. Two streams means paying twice.
What are the PFRDA Grade A Important Dates 2026?
| Event | Date |

| Last date to request free pre-examination training | 24 September 2026 |

Which Conditions Can Cancel Your PFRDA Grade A Application?
These are the lines candidates skip. Each one has ended somebody’s candidature.
| Condition | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Creamy layer | OBC candidates in the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation |
| Awaiting your result | You may sit all three phases, but the offer to join stands withdrawn without notice if you cannot produce proof of the qualification within the time granted, and no extension is permitted |
| Too many applications | Applying more than once in one stream, or for more than two streams, makes only your last application valid — the rest are summarily rejected and no fee is refunded |
| No corrections | Once you finally submit, a change or correction in any particular, including category, will not be entertained under any circumstances |
| EWS certificate | No extension of time to produce the Income and Asset Certificate is permissible beyond the interview date, and such candidates shall not be allowed to attend the interview |
| OBC (NCL) certificate | Fail to produce it at the interview and you will not be allowed to appear; a request to be treated as Unreserved instead will not be entertained |
| PwBD certificate | You need a permanent disability certificate in the prescribed format, issued before the closing date. A temporary certificate marked “likely to improve” is not eligible for PwBD reservation |
| Incomplete application | An application without the photograph and signature uploaded, or with an unsuccessful fee payment, is not valid. An application submitted without depositing the fee is summarily rejected and no correspondence will be entertained |
| Using a scribe | Indicate the need for a scribe and compensatory time in the online form itself — only candidates registered for compensatory time are allowed it, and a later request may not be entertained. If the scribe answers independently, is found ineligible, or is a candidate in the same examination, both candidatures are cancelled |
| Handwritten declaration | It must be in your own handwriting and in English only. Written by anyone else, in another language, or in capital letters, the application is invalid |
| Signature mismatch | If your signature on the attendance sheet or call letter does not match the uploaded one, you are disqualified |
| Identity proof | A mismatch between the name on the call letter and your photo ID stops you at the gate. Ration Card and Learner’s Licence are not accepted |
| Reporting late | Candidates reporting after the time printed on the call letter will not be permitted to take the examination |
| Biometrics | Refusing IRIS scanning or verification on any occasion may lead to cancellation of candidature |
| Appearing twice | You may appear only once in the online examination for a post; multiple appearances cancel your candidature |
| Centre changes | No request for a change of centre, venue, date or session will be entertained. If PFRDA has to shift you to another centre or hold a fresh examination, refusing to accept the change costs you your candidature |
| False information | Being ineligible, or furnishing false particulars or suppressing material information, cancels the candidature at any stage — and terminates the appointment later, without notice or compensation |
| Malpractice | Impersonation, unfair means, or carrying a mobile phone (even switched off), smart watch, smart glasses, pen drive, camera or any Bluetooth device into the hall. Beyond criminal prosecution you can be disqualified, debarred permanently or for a fixed period from any future PFRDA examination, and dismissed if you have already joined |
| Canvassing | Canvassing in any form will disqualify you |
| No vested right | Taking part in this process, or qualifying at any stage, gives you no right to be offered an appointment |
How to Apply Online for PFRDA Grade A Recruitment 2026?
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the PFRDA careers page and choose “Apply Online” (link in Essential Links below) |
| 2 | Register with your name, contact details and email; save the provisional registration number and password |
| 3 | Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration in the exact sizes asked for, and capture the live photograph by webcam or mobile QR scan |
| 4 | Give up to three centre preferences for Phase I and one for Phase II; if you apply for two streams, choose the same centres |
| 5 | Complete the registration first, then pay the fee online |
| 6 | Print the e-receipt and the completed application form for your records |
Keep three documents ready, because their absence is what forfeits a claim later: your category certificate in the exact Government of India format, an OBC (NCL) or EWS Income and Asset Certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, and — if you already work for a government or public sector employer — a No Objection Certificate for the interview.

If you hold a Master’s degree in any subject, an LLB, a B.E. or B.Tech, or a CA, CS, CMA or CFA qualification, and you were born on or after 1 August 1996, the General Stream is open to you — and a starting package near Rs 2,05,000 a month in a central regulator is worth three weeks of serious effort. The specialist streams are tiny, so an actuary with all seven Core Principles cleared, or a Hindi post-graduate, should treat this as a rare opening. Apply well before 24 September 2026 and keep following GovtJobsAlert.in for call letter and exam updates.
