RCF Management Trainee Vacancy 2026: Discipline-Wise Posts, Stipend, Exam Pattern and Eligibility

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF), a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Government of India, has invited online applications for 94 Management Trainee posts across 14 disciplines. This is one of the most attractive PSU job openings of the year — trainees draw a stipend of ₹60,000 per month during the one-year training itself, and move into the E1 executive grade with a pay scale of ₹40,000 – ₹1,40,000 on absorption.

What makes this recruitment stand out is that no GATE score is required — RCF conducts its own computer-based test, so your GATE result has no bearing on your chances. Openings are spread across Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, Fire, IT, Finance, Marketing and other streams. Applications open on 8 August 2026 and close on 24 August 2026 at 5:00 PM — a tight 17-day window. Read this complete guide from GovtJobsAlert.in before you apply.

Eligibility Criteria — RCFL Management Trainee Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification

Every discipline requires a regular, full-time qualification from a UGC, AICTE or (for Marketing) ICAR recognised university or institution. Distance and part-time qualifications are not accepted. Engineering graduates make up most of the disciplines here.

One route that many candidates do not realise they have: across almost every engineering discipline, RCF also accepts a 3-year B.E. or B.Tech obtained after a 3-year full-time Diploma in Engineering — so lateral-entry engineers are eligible even though the headline says four years.

  • Chemical: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Petrochemical Engineering or Petrochemical Technology
  • Mechanical: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Power Engineering, or Electrical Power Engineering
  • Instrumentation: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering
  • Civil: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Civil Engineering or its allied branches such as Civil and Infrastructure Engineering
  • Boiler: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical, Petrochemical, Mechanical, Instrumentation or Electrical discipline, and a valid Boiler Operation Engineer’s Certificate (BOE) or Boiler Proficiency Certificate issued by a statutory authority
  • Materials: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical, Petrochemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical and Power, Electrical Power, Instrumentation, Instrumentation Technology, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or Chemical Technology
  • Fire: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Fire or Fire and Safety discipline
  • Industrial Engineering: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Industrial Engineering — or a 4-year B.E./B.Tech in any discipline followed by a two-year full-time PG degree or diploma in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, or Industrial Engineering and Operations Research
  • Information Technology: 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology or Computer Engineering
  • CC LAB: Ph.D. in Chemistry, or 4-year B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering or Chemical Technology
  • Finance: CA or CMA, or a full-time graduation in Commerce, Accounting or Finance such as B.Com, BMS, BAF or BBA followed by a two-year full-time post-graduate degree with specialisation in Finance. An M.Com qualification is not accepted
  • Marketing: A UGC, AICTE or ICAR recognised Science, Engineering or Agriculture graduate degree, followed by a two-year full-time MBA, PGDBM or PGDM with specialisation in Marketing, Agri-Business Management or Agriculture
  • Rajbhasha: Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level, or the mirror combination in English with Hindi — or a Master’s degree in any other subject studied through Hindi medium with English at degree level (or the English-medium mirror), or a Master’s degree taken with both Hindi and English

Every discipline carries a minimum percentage bar of 60%, but what the 60% is measured on — and whether any relaxation applies — differs by discipline. Check your own row:

Discipline60% measured onRelaxation
Chemical, Boiler, Electrical, InstrumentationFinal year of engineering graduation55% for SC and ST
Mechanical, Civil, Fire, CC LAB (engineering route)Final year of engineering graduationNone stated
Information TechnologyFinal year of engineering graduation55% for SC only
Industrial EngineeringEngineering graduation, or final year of the PG degree/diploma routeNone stated
Finance (non-CA/CMA route), MarketingFinal year of the post-graduate degree or diploma55% for SC and ST
RajbhashaFinal year of post-graduationNone stated
MaterialsOnly an ST-category bar of 55% is printed

There is no percentage criterion for CA/CMA candidates applying to Finance, or for Ph.D. candidates applying to CC LAB (though a Ph.D. in Chemistry is preferred there). One more thing that catches people out: if there is no vacancy in your reserved category for the post you choose, you are treated as a General candidate and no relaxation of any criterion applies to you.

Candidates from a commerce and finance background should look at the 10 Finance posts, which accept CA and CMA qualifications directly.

Two document conditions to check now rather than later: the OBC (NCL) caste certificate and the EWS Income & Asset certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2025.

Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 1 February 2026 — note that this is different from the application dates. The notification does not prescribe a minimum age.

The limits below are the general position. Read your own discipline’s row in the notification carefully, because RCF prints age limits per post and only for the categories that actually have a vacancy in that post — for example the single Civil vacancy is an OBC (NCL) seat, so only the OBC age limit is printed against it.

CategoryMaximum Age
UR and EWS27 years
OBC30 years
SC and ST32 years
PwBD (UR)37 years
PwBD (OBC)40 years
PwBD (SC and ST)42 years

CC LAB candidates applying with a Ph.D. get an upper age limit of 32 years. A further 5-year concession applies to children and family members of the victims of the 1984 riots.

Service Bond

Selected candidates must furnish a fixed deposit of ₹2,00,000 with a lien marked to RCF, covering a service period of four years including the one training year. If you do not pay it upfront, it is recovered from your stipend. A six-month probation follows the completion of training.

What is the Salary for RCFL Management Trainee 2026?

The pay package here is genuinely strong for a fresher-level PSU role, and the notification states the figures clearly.

  • Stipend during training: ₹60,000 per month for the full one-year training period
  • Pay scale after absorption: E1 Grade, ₹40,000 – ₹1,40,000
  • Minimum total monthly gross after absorption: approximately ₹86,320

The approximate gross of ₹86,320 is built from Basic Pay plus VDA at 51.80%, Perks at 34% and HRA at 30%, as stated in the notification.

Do note that the notification does not state an annual CTC figure, so treat any annual package number you see elsewhere with caution. Postings can be at Trombay, Thal or marketing offices anywhere in India.

Two job conditions are stated firmly and you should weigh them before applying: the role requires working in rotating shifts including night shift, and it requires a high level of physical fitness. Candidates who are provisionally selected must meet the prescribed medical and physical fitness standards — audiometry, ECG, vision, lung function and BMI among them — and are declared ineligible if they do not.

What is the Selection Process for RCFL Management Trainee 2026?

Selection is a two-stage process, and the weightage between the stages is clearly defined — 80% online test and 20% interview.

Stage 1: Online Computer Based Test

The test runs for 90 minutes and carries 100 questions for 150 marks. It is split into two parts: 50 discipline-specific questions carrying 2 marks each and 50 aptitude questions carrying 1 mark each. The medium is Hindi and English, and the test is conducted at 10 centres across the country. There is negative marking, though the notification does not state how much is deducted per wrong answer.

Stage 2: Personal Interview

Candidates are shortlisted for interview at a ratio of 1:7 against the vacancies. The interview carries 20% weightage, and you must separately score a minimum 50% average in the interview to stay in contention. Candidates who score nil or negative in the CBT are not eligible for the interview regardless of the shortlist ratio.

Document verification happens after the online test and before the interview, and a pre-employment medical examination follows final selection. Since the discipline paper carries double marks per question, focus your preparation on your core engineering or finance subject — that is where the selection is really decided.
