Eligibility Criteria — RRC ER Scouts & Guides Quota 2026
There are two parts to eligibility here — an education qualification and a compulsory Scouts & Guides qualification. Candidates who do not have a Scouts & Guides qualification should not apply. If you are a 10th pass candidate looking for government jobs, the Level-1 post is a great starting point.
Educational Qualification
- Level-2 (Group ‘C’): Passed 12th (+2) with at least 50% marks (relaxed for SC, ST, ESM and PwBD candidates), or 10th pass plus a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) or NCVT-approved ITI.
- Level-1 (Group ‘D’): 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
Scouts & Guides Qualification (Compulsory)
- Must be a President Scout, Guide, Rover or Ranger, or a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder.
- Must have been an active member for the last 5 years.
- Must have attended two events at National / All-India Railways level and two events at State level.

Age is counted as on 1 January 2027.

Upper age relaxation is OBC – 3 years and SC/ST – 5 years, with further relaxation for PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and serving railway employees as per rules.
What is the Salary for RRC ER Scouts & Guides Posts?
The pay is fixed under the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, plus Railway allowances.
- Level-1 (Group ‘D’): Pay Level-1, Grade Pay ₹1,800 (₹18,000 – ₹56,900 as per the 7th CPC matrix)
- Level-2 (Group ‘C’): Pay Level-2, Grade Pay ₹1,900 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200)
After adding Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance and other railway benefits, the in-hand salary is noticeably higher than the basic pay.

What is the Selection Process for RRC ER Scouts & Guides 2026?
Selection is based on a written test and marks for your Scouts & Guides certificates, followed by a medical test. Together, both stages carry 100 marks.
Stage 1: Written Examination (60 marks)
A common written test of 60 marks — 40 objective questions (40 marks) plus one essay question (20 marks) on Scouts & Guides and General Knowledge. Duration is 60 minutes and the minimum qualifying mark is 40%. Candidates are shortlisted for the next stage in a 1:3 ratio.
Stage 2: Marks on Certificates (40 marks)
40 marks are awarded for participation and service in National events, State events, specialised Scouts/Guides courses and District rallies. Finally, shortlisted candidates undergo a medical examination at a Railway hospital before appointment.
