RRC NWR Scouts & Guides 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must satisfy two sets of conditions together — the educational qualification and the Scouts & Guides qualification. Both are compulsory. If you are a 10th pass candidate looking for government jobs, the Level-1 post may suit you well.
Educational Qualification
- Level-2 (NTPC): 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. The 50% requirement is relaxed for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen candidates and for those holding a higher qualification.
- Level-1: 10th pass OR ITI (or equivalent) OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
Scouts & Guides Qualification (for both levels)

- Have been an active member of a Scouts Organization for the last 5 years (from 2021-22 onwards), with a valid “Certificate of Activeness”.

- Level-2: 18 to 27 years for UR candidates.

The pay for these posts follows the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix. Both posts also carry the usual railway allowances, which add a good amount on top of the basic pay.

Stage 1: CBT & Written Test (60 Marks)
This stage has 40 objective questions (40 marks) plus 1 essay-type question (20 marks) on Scouts and Guides topics. The exam covers General Knowledge and Scouts/Guides knowledge, runs for 60 minutes, and is bilingual (you may write in Hindi or English). There is negative marking — 1/3rd mark is deducted for every wrong answer in the objective part. You must score at least 40% in the written test to qualify for the next stage (relaxation for reserved categories).
Stage 2: Marks on Certificates (40 Marks)
Marks are awarded for your additional certificates, events, courses and rallies. For example, two valid certificates earn 7 marks and three certificates earn 10 marks, as per the notification.
Stage 3: Document Verification & Medical
Shortlisted candidates undergo Document Verification followed by a Medical Examination by the Railway Medical Authority. Visual Acuity is an important medical standard for these posts.
