UPSC Special Recruitment Drive 06/2026 — A Big Chance to Join Central Government Service

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released its Special Recruitment Drive Advertisement No. 06/2026, inviting online applications for a huge 546 vacancies spread across 98 different posts. These posts are in many central ministries and departments — from Agriculture, Ayush, Civil Aviation and Defence to Health, Finance and Environment. Junior Scientific Officer (Level-7): M.Sc. in Microbiology from a recognized University or Institute; OR M.Sc. in Botany with specialization in Plant Pathology or Microbiology or Mycology from a recognized University or Institute; OR M.Sc. in Agriculture with specialization in Soil Science or Agricultural Chemistry or Agronomy or Microbiology or Plant Pathology or Horticulture or Agricultural Extension from a recognized University or Institute.

Regional Director (Level-12): (A) MSc in Microbiology from a recognized University or Institute OR MSc in Botany with Specialization in Plant Pathology or Microbiology or Mycology from a recognized University or Institute; OR MSc in Agriculture with Specialization in Soil Science or Agricultural Chemistry or Agronomy or Microbiology or Plant Pathology or Horticulture or Agricultural Extension from a recognized University or Institute. (B) EXPERIENCE: Possessing ten years’ experience in the field of Research and Development of Biofertilizer and Other Aspects of Organic Farming with Experience in Quality Control of Biofertilizers and Organic Fertilizers Including Two Years Administrative Experience.

Operations Officer (Level-10): EDUCATIONAL Degree in Engineering in Civil or Mechanical or Computer Science or Information Technology or Aeronautical or Electrical or Electronics disciplines from a recognized University with two years’ experience in; OR Masters Degree in Science in the subjects of Electronics or Physics with one years’ experience in; OR B.Sc. Professor (Sugar Engineering) (Level-13): (A) (i) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognised University or Institute or Associate Member of Institution of Engineers (AMIE) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; (ii) Associateship of National Sugar Institute in Sugar Engineering awarded by National Sugar Institute or post-graduate diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Pune after completing degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, from a recognised University or Institute; and (B) EXPERIENCE: Ten years’ research or practical or teaching experience at degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Sugar Engineering.

What is the Salary for UPSC 06/2026 Posts?

Salary depends on the Pay Level of each post under the 7th Pay Commission. Most posts in this drive fall between Level-7 and Level-13, which is a strong central-government pay package.

  • Junior-level posts begin around Level-7 (entry pay near ₹44,900 per month).
  • Senior specialist, scientific and medical posts go up to Level-12 / Level-13, with much higher pay plus allowances.

What is the Selection Process for UPSC 06/2026?
