Here is a wonderful start for fresh graduates and diploma holders! The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Regional Headquarters, Western Region, Mumbai has invited online applications for 36 apprentice posts under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Training is at 11 Western Region airports, and it is open only to candidates who are domicile of the respective state — Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh or the UT of Diu — and reside near that airport. Selected apprentices get a monthly stipend of ₹15,000 (Graduate) or ₹12,000 (Diploma), with no application fee for anyone.
Applications opened on 3 August 2026 and close on 30 September 2026. Two gates decide eligibility before anything else: you must have passed your degree or diploma on or after 1 April 2022, and you must be 18 to 26 years old as on 31 July 2026. The notification prescribes no written examination stage — selection is on your qualifying exam percentage, followed by interview and document verification. Important Eligibility Conditions
- You must be a domicile of the state in which your chosen airport falls — Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh or the UT of Diu — and reside in the nearby area of that airport. Being a domicile of one of these states does not make you eligible for airports in the others.
- You must have passed the qualifying degree or diploma on or after 1 April 2022. Candidates who completed more than five years from the date of passing, as on the date of joining, are not eligible.
- Final year students awaiting results may also apply, but joining depends on producing the certificate.

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and PwD is applied as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the rules under it. What is the Salary and Stipend for AAI WR Apprentice 2026?
AAI pays a good monthly stipend during the one-year training, and the amount depends on whether you join as a Graduate or a Diploma apprentice. The stipend is shared between AAI and the Government.
- Graduate Apprentice: ₹15,000 per month — ₹8,850 from AAI and ₹6,150 as the Government share
- Diploma Apprentice: ₹12,000 per month — ₹6,550 from AAI and ₹5,450 as the Government share
The Government share is credited directly into your registered bank account through DBT from BOAT, so make sure your bank details on the NATS portal are correct from day one.
Please be very clear about one thing — this is apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and not employment. AAI has explicitly stated it has no obligation to give regular employment after training, and candidates cannot claim a regular job on this basis. That said, apprentices who successfully complete one year of training at AAI get exemption from application fees in future AAI direct recruitment, subject to meeting the other requirements stipulated in that recruitment advertisement.
What is the Selection Process for AAI WR Apprentice 2026?
The notification prescribes no written examination as part of the selection methodology. Selection is based mainly on your academic marks.
- Merit on qualifying examination marks — selection is based on the percentage of marks in your qualifying degree or diploma.
- Interview and document verification — shortlisted candidates are called through their registered email ID only, so keep checking your inbox.
- Medical fitness certificate — to be obtained only from a Gazetted Government Medical Officer or a Medical Officer of a Government Undertaking, and submitted at the time of joining.
- Police verification certificate — to be obtained from your local area of residence.
Merit is decided on your qualifying-exam percentage, so there is no syllabus to study — but there is an interview and document verification stage, so keep your certificates, percentage conversion and category papers ready. Applications that are incomplete or missing supporting documents will be rejected outright, and candidates who apply for more than one discipline will be rejected, so choose carefully. AAI’s decision is final and binding on eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection and cancellation of the process in part or full; filling the seats is at AAI’s discretion and no claim will be entertained if some seats go unfilled. Furnishing false or incorrect information at any stage makes your candidature liable to cancellation.
