What is the Eligibility for BRIC-NABI Recruitment 2026?

Each post has its own project and its own principal investigator (PI). Match yourself to the exact block you want, because a Ph.D. holder and a Bachelor’s degree holder are looking at completely different posts here. Do not worry if you are new to the process: the table below lists every requirement in one place.

Educational Qualification

Post (Block)Essential Requirement
Research Associate (1A)Ph.D. awarded or thesis submitted. The same list also names selection through CSIR-UGC-NET (including Assistant Professorship), GATE or GPAT, or through a national-level exam by central departments or agencies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER. The notification does not say whether these are needed in addition to the Ph.D.
Senior Research Fellow (1B)Postgraduate degree in basic science, or graduate/postgraduate degree in a professional course, selected through NET, GATE, GPAT or a national-level exam as listed above, or two years of research experience as JRF
Research Associate-1 (2)Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences or Biotechnology with at least two peer-reviewed international publications in SCI journals

Senior Research Fellow (4)Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Sciences, Life Sciences or another relevant discipline, plus two years of research experience after the Master’s in molecular biology, genomics, transcriptomics or related areas

Desirable experience is listed for most posts, such as molecular biology, plant tissue culture, genome editing or omics data analysis. It is not compulsory unless stated as essential. If you are a Post Graduate candidate aiming at a Senior Research Fellow post, note that block 1B and block 4 ask for different things: block 1B accepts a qualifying national-level test or two years as JRF, while block 4 needs two years of research experience after the Master’s. Also note that block 1A accepts a Ph.D. thesis that is only submitted, whereas blocks 2 and 3A ask for a Ph.D. with at least two SCI publications.
