Lady Medical Officer (LMO) is named in the notification, but it has no separate row in the vacancy table, so we cannot give you an LMO seat count. The numbers are tentative and can go up or down, and they include future vacancies that will arise when tenures end. 1% of Senior Resident posts are reserved for orthopaedically handicapped persons (non-surgical), if available. If EWS seats are not filled, they will be filled from the General category.

What Is the Eligibility for GMCH Chandigarh Recruitment 2026?

Educational Qualification

PostRequirement
Senior Resident, Casualty Medical Officer, Resident Anaesthetist, Resident PathologistPostgraduate medical degree (MD, MS, DNB, MCh, DM) or equivalent in the concerned specialty, registered with the Medical Council of India or a State Medical Council
Demonstrator, Medical Officer, Emergency Medical Officer, Lady Medical OfficerMBBS, with preference to PG degree holders
Junior Resident (MBBS & BDS)MBBS or BDS, registered with a State Medical Council or MCI, with the one-year rotary internship done or likely to be completed by 31 December 2026

Now read the “not eligible” lines, because they cost candidates their fee. Anyone who has already completed three years as a Senior Resident is not eligible for the Senior Resident post. Anyone who has already done one year of Junior Residency is not eligible for Junior Resident. Persons who worked at GMCH earlier and were dispensed with for misconduct or otherwise are not eligible to apply.

For Demonstrator, a candidate with an M.Sc. (Medical) in the concerned subject from a medical institute is considered only if medical candidates are not available. Only 1 Demonstrator post in Physiology is open to non-medical candidates, and that too only if no medical candidate is available. There is no Demonstrator post for non-medical candidates in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pharmacology. If such a candidate applies there, they will be declared Not Eligible straightway and the fee will not be refunded.

If you hold a PG degree and fit more than one department, you can select several departments in the same form. You will sit one test based on your PG subject, and your merit counts for every department you chose. MBBS candidates for Demonstrator, Medical Officer, Emergency Medical Officer, Lady Medical Officer and Junior Resident need not choose a department while applying. A common merit list is made, and they pick a speciality at the interview, if it is available.

The age is counted as on 28 October 2026. The notification gives no minimum age.
