What is the Eligibility for GMRC O&M Asst. Manager, Sr. Section Engineer & Section Engineer Posts 2026?
Educational Qualification
Every post needs a B.E./B.Tech from a Govt. recognised University or Institute. The accepted branches change from post to post, so match your degree against your row. This is a strong option in engineering government jobs for electrical, electronics and mechanical graduates.
| Post | Accepted B.E./B.Tech Branches |
|---|---|
| Sr. DGM (Traction) | Electrical, or Electrical & Electronics |
| DGM (Signalling) and Manager (Signalling) | Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunications, Applied Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Power Electronics, Instrumentation or equivalent engineering graduate |
| Asst. Manager (Signalling) | Same branches as DGM (Signalling), or equivalent |
| Asst. Manager (Rolling Stock) | Electrical, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Power Electronics, Instrumentation or equivalent discipline |
| Sr. Section Engineer (Signalling) | Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunications, Applied Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Power Electronics, Instrumentation |
| Sr. Section Engineer and Section Engineer (Rolling Stock) | Electrical, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communications, Power Electronics, Instrumentation |
Experience Required
Experience counts only after your qualification, and the minimum years depend on where you worked.
| Post | Private Sector | Govt / PSU / Metro |
|---|---|---|
| Sr. DGM (Traction) | 15 years, executive level | 11 years, executive |
| DGM (Signalling) | 10 years | 8 years (PSU or Metro Corporation) |
| Manager (Signalling) | 9 years | 7 years (PSU or Metro Corporation) |
| Asst. Manager (Signalling) | 7 years | 5 years (Govt, PSU or Metro Rail Corporation) |
| Asst. Manager (Rolling Stock) | 7 years, supervisory grade | 5 years, supervisory grade |
| Sr. Section Engineer (Rolling Stock) | 6 years in Rolling Stock or M&P maintenance | Same |
| Sr. Section Engineer (Signalling) | 6 years in Signalling (CBTC, AFTC or PSD) in Metro Rail or Railways | Same |
| Section Engineer (Rolling Stock) | 5 years in Rolling Stock or M&P maintenance | Same |
For the officer posts, the relevant work is planning, specifications, contract administration, installation, testing, commissioning or maintenance of the traction, signalling or rolling stock system. Metro experience is preferred for these posts.
Current Pay or CTC Condition
Besides experience, you must already be drawing a certain pay. Meet any one option in your row. Government, PSU and Metro staff look at the middle column, and private sector staff look at the last column. Level numbers refer to the 7th CPC pay matrix. If your current pay is below your row, you miss this criterion; GMRC considers lower pay scales only when enough suitable candidates are not available.
