The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has issued Press Note No. 4-8/2026-PSC (R-III) dated 14 October 2026 for the Constable (Male & Female) posts in the H.P. Police Department, advertised under Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 and 58/7-2026 dated 10 July 2026. The Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be held from 22 October 2026 to 5 December 2026 by the H.P. Police Department. This is a press note, not a corrigendum.

Don’t panic if your date is not visible yet. The press note says the detailed schedule will be notified district-wise by the Police Department, and it gives no venue or reporting time. Please do not trust any date or centre that does not come from your e-call letter or the Police Department. The Commission also says no call letter will be sent separately by any other mode.
How to Download the E-Call Letter for HP Police Constable PST & PET?
- Open the Commission’s website (link in Essential Links) and log in to your One Time Registration (OTR) account with your User ID and password.
- Open your e-call letter for the Constable physical test and download it, along with the instructions printed in it.
- Paste a recent passport-size photograph on the space given, self-attested or attested by a Gazetted Officer.
- Keep one original valid photo ID with date of birth printed on it, such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN or Passport.
- Watch for the district-wise PST & PET schedule from the Police Department and read your e-call letter for venue and time.
Under the original advertisement, a candidate is not admitted to the Physical Test without the e-admit card, and a candidate whose photograph is not pasted on the downloaded e-call letter will not be allowed to appear. If you spot a mistake in the e-call letter, contact the Commission’s office quickly.

HP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 Last Date Extended to 5 September 2026 — Earlier Update
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has issued Addendum No. 4-06/2024-PSC(R-III) dated 21 August 2026 for the Police Constable (Male & Female) posts advertised under Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 and 58/7-2026. The last date for the online recruitment application has been extended by a further 15 days, up to 5 September 2026 (11:59 PM) — after that the application link was disabled and the application window is now closed.
The Commission has also granted a one-time age relaxation of five years in the upper age limit to Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh only, on the basis of the H.P. Home Department letter dated 20 August 2026; no other category receives this relaxation. Candidates who have already applied need not apply again, and all other terms and conditions of the advertisements remain unchanged.

HP Police Constable Recruitment 2026: EWS Eligibility Addendum dated 6 August 2026 — Earlier Update
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has issued an Addendum dated 6 August 2026 for the Police Constable (Male & Female) recruitment under Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 to 58/7-2026. Two points matter for you. First, that addendum recorded the last date for receipt of online applications as 21 August 2026 — a deadline that has since been extended again, to 5 September 2026 (11:59 PM), by Addendum No. 4-06/2024-PSC(R-III) dated 21 August 2026 (explained in the earlier update section of this article). Second, for the EWS category, the Commission has applied the H.P. Government instructions dated 30 June 2026 in addition to the earlier instructions dated 11 June 2019, under which the family of a Trainee / Job Trainee engaged under the respective schemes is excluded from being identified as Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Important for EWS candidates (Addendum dated 6 August 2026): under H.P. Government letter No. PER (AP)-C-B(15)-3/2024 dated 30 June 2026 — which applies in addition to the earlier instructions dated 11 June 2019 — the family of a Trainee or Job Trainee engaged under the respective schemes cannot be identified as Economically Weaker Section (EWS). In plain terms: if a member of your family is engaged as a Trainee or Job Trainee under a Himachal Pradesh Government scheme, you can no longer claim the EWS quota here. You can still apply under General (UR) if you meet the other conditions.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th) and 10+2 (Senior Secondary) from an institution or board situated within Himachal Pradesh. This “within Himachal Pradesh” condition does not apply to bonafide Himachalis. The written exam is set at the 10+2 standard.
Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)

One-time age relaxation for Home Guards (Addendum dated 21 August 2026): acting on the H.P. Home Department letter dated 20 August 2026, the Commission has granted a one-time relaxation of five years in the upper age limit to Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh only. For this recruitment their upper age limit therefore becomes 33 years instead of 28 years. It is a one-time concession tied to these advertisements, and no other category receives it — the General / EWS limit stays 18 to 25 years and the SC / ST / OBC / Gorkhas limit stays 18 to 27 years.

Physical Standards (Height & Chest)
Height is measured for all candidates. Chest is measured for male candidates only.

For male candidates, the minimum chest is 31″ (unexpanded) to 32″ (expanded) for General / EWS / OBC and 29″ to 30″ for SC / ST / Gorkhas candidates. Female candidates have no chest requirement.
What is the Salary for HP Police Constable 2026?
The post carries Pay Level 3 under the Himachal Pradesh pay structure.

Physical Standard & Efficiency Test (PST & PET)
First, the HP Police Department checks your height (PST) and physical fitness (PET). The PET is qualifying, but height gives you up to 6 bonus marks in the final merit. The running and jump standards are:

Written Examination

Document Verification & Medical
Finally, documents are verified (NCC certificate gives up to 4 extra marks) and a medical examination is conducted. The final merit is out of 100 marks = Written (90) + Height (6) + NCC (4).
