IOCL Digboi Apprentice 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Trade Apprentice — Attendant Operator (Code 101) & Boiler (Code 103): 3 years B.Sc. (Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry) from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST and PwBD). A candidate with B.Sc. can apply for either Code 101 or Code 103, but not both.
- Technician Apprentice — Chemical (Code 104): 3 years Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Petrochemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Refinery and Petrochemical Engineering from a recognized Board/Institute with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and PwBD).
- Technician Apprentice — Instrumentation (Code 107): 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation & Electronics / Instrumentation & Control Engineering / Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and PwBD).
- Qualification must be from a regular full-time course only. Part-time/correspondence/distance qualifications are not accepted.
- Candidates with BE/B.Tech, MBA, MCA, CA, LLB or higher professional qualifications are not eligible.
- Candidates must not have completed 5 years after acquiring the prescribed qualification.

Stipend and Benefits for IOCL Digboi Apprentices
Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 and Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) along with Corporation’s guidelines.
- Safety shoes and helmet provided during training
- General Leave: 32 days (8 days per quarter) including on medical grounds
- Casual Leave: 12 days per calendar year (pro-rata)
- Accident Insurance Coverage during apprenticeship
- Training period: 12 months (Code 101, 104, 107) and 24 months (Code 103)

IOCL Digboi Apprentice Selection Process Explained
Merit-based Selection (No Written Test)
There is no written examination. Selection is based on the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualification in descending order. Aggregate marks of all subjects in all years/semesters will be considered. Preference is given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
Tie-breaking Criteria
In case of a tie, the date of birth (senior by age) is considered first. If still tied, a higher percentage in Matriculation is used.
Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification with original certificates. This is followed by a mandatory pre-engagement medical examination.
