The “desirable” lists in the PDF, such as metro or railway project work, are preferences and not strict requirements, but they help at the shortlisting stage. Master’s degrees and diplomas marked “preferred” work the same way. For the General Manager and both Deputy General Manager posts, an AMIE (B.E./B.Tech) holder who enrolled on or before 31 May 2013 may be considered. Diploma holders should also see Diploma Govt Jobs, and the finance posts fit the Commerce and Finance Jobs page.
Experience Needed
This is the part most people miss. Experience is mostly post-qualification, and most routes require it in the post’s “Desirable” domain. A serving employee qualifies by holding the post’s own grade, or the grade one or two steps below it for a stated number of years. Candidates from other Govt organisations or PSUs have a separate route, at executive or supervisory grade depending on the post. Private-sector candidates need more years and a minimum CTC. The exact grade ladder differs post by post, so read your own post in the PDF before you apply.
| Post | Govt / PSU Route (minimum) | Private Route (years, minimum CTC) |
|---|---|---|
| General Manager | 18 years | 20 years, Rs 30 lakh |
| Deputy General Manager (both) | 12 years | 14 years, Rs 22 lakh |
| AGM (Material Mgmt, Structure, Geotech, Civil, E&M) | 9 years | 11 years, Rs 15 lakh |
| AGM (Finance) | 9 years | 11 years, Rs 15 lakh p.a., employer turnover of Rs 2,000 crore or more |
| Deputy Town Planner | 6 years | 8 years, Rs 12 lakh |
| Deputy Engineer (both), Assistant Manager | 5 years | 7 years, Rs 10 lakh |
| Assistant Engineer (both), Junior Manager (IT) | 5 years | 7 years, Rs 8 lakh |
| Junior Manager (Finance) | 3 years | 5 years including 2 post-qualification, Rs 8 lakh |
| Systems Analyst / Jr. Engineer-I | 4 years | 5 years, Rs 4 lakh |
| Jr. Engineer-II (all three) | 3 years (degree), 5 years (diploma) | 5 years (degree), 7 years (diploma), Rs 4 lakh |
