Eligibility Criteria for General Manager, Principal Director and Director
Each post has its own essential qualification. A bachelor’s degree is the base for most, and the engineering jobs crowd gets four of the seven posts (Mechanical or Production Engineering).
Educational Qualification and Experience
| Post | Essential Requirement |
|---|---|
| General Manager, CTTC Kolkata | Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognised university or institution. 15 years in the Production or Training Department of a Tool Room or reputed engineering industry, of which 10 years in a responsible technology or management position |
| General Manager, CTTC Bhubaneswar | Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering from a recognised university or institution (no “or equivalent” is printed for this post), with the same 15 plus 10 years experience as Kolkata |
| General Manager, CTR Ludhiana | Same degree and the same 15 plus 10 years experience as Kolkata |
| Principal Director, CIHT Jalandhar | Same degree and 15 years in the Production or Training Department of a Tool Room or reputed engineering industry, of which 10 years in a managerial technical position |
| Principal Director, FFDC Kannauj | Post Graduate degree in Chemistry, Botany or Agronomy, or a degree in Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering or Agriculture Engineering. 15 years in a responsible position in an industrial, technical or R&D organisation dealing with fine chemicals, phyto-chemicals, aromatic and medicinal plants, or fragrance and flavours |
| Principal Director, CDGI Firozabad | Degree in Ceramic, Silicate or Glass Technology (or equivalent with glass as a main subject) with 15 years in production or research in a glass or ceramic industry or R&D body, in a responsible position. The Experience row also lists experience in financial, personnel management and general administration |
| Director, CFTI Agra | Degree in Leather Technology, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Technology plus 7 years in a responsible role in a footwear training institution or footwear organisation, or a Diploma in Leather or Footwear Technology plus 12 years of the same experience |
Do not apply to every centre just because you can. Pick the post whose degree and industry experience match yours, since a Mechanical engineer with tool room years fits the GM and Jalandhar posts, while a chemist fits Kannauj and a glass or leather specialist fits Firozabad or Agra.
For Kannauj, the requirement of experience can be relaxed for exceptionally deserving candidates at the discretion of the Chairman, Governing Council. No other post carries this relaxation.
Desirable Qualifications
| Post | Desirable |
|---|---|
| GM and Principal Director (tool rooms, CIHT) | Post Graduate qualification in Engineering, Technology or Management, plus project management and CAD/CAM, CNC and MIS experience |
| Principal Director, FFDC Kannauj | Doctorate in Chemistry, Botany or Agronomy, or a Post Graduate degree in the related technology, or a PG Diploma or degree in Management or Computer Science |
| Principal Director, CDGI Firozabad | Post Graduate degree in Ceramic, Silicate or Glass Technology or management, with experience in glass projects |
| Director, CFTI Agra | PG Diploma in Business Management and teaching or training experience |
Only post-qualification experience in the relevant field is counted for the experience rules. Experience gained before you finished the essential qualification will not help you.
